I have tried the Sleep Number Bed several times and I hate it.

Overall
Rated 2 out of 5

The Sleep Number Bed is nothing more than a glorified air mattress. I tried it several times, on all settings from the softest to the firmest and it was not any more comfortable than my regular spring mattress, no matter which number I used. Even worse, the reason you can adjust both sides of the bed separately is because you actually have two air mattresses on the same frame. Therefore, if the sides are not on the same number, you can feel the gap between the two parts. I cannot deny that some people love this bed but for me, I couldn't wait to get back home to my good, old fashioned springs.

My husband ordered our Sleep Number bed before I moved up. We got the dual chamber Queen bed, with individual controllers. I wish we had gotten the single wireless remote with the digital readout rather than the wired controllers. I have trouble finding a comfortable level on my side and have to guess again to get it back if it is ever changed. Since we got the lower level model, there is no memory foam topper, which is fine for my husband as he does not like the foam, but causes trouble for me as I am a side sleeper and ofter wake up with shoulder pain because I have the bed set too hard. However, if I set the bed to a softer setting, I find that I sink in the middle and end up with back paid. I'm sure this is not a problem for everyone, but I have very little extra body fat to provide padding on my bones & just need that extra softness that the memory foam would provide. We are planning to get a topper for my side & hope that will alleviate the problem.

You really can get a good night's sleep

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

Both of my sisters (and now my parents) are the proud owners of Select Comfort Sleep number beds.  When my middle sister decided to upgrade her bed to  King Size, my husband and I were the happy recipients of her Queen size, dual-chamber sleep number bed.  At the time, I had just had our second child.  I was tired, cranky, somewhat crazed, and the mattress on which we slept (although less than 5 years old) was simply horrid.  I remember the first night's sleep on the Select Comfort was good, but not great.  The next night, I adjusted the the firmness, found my "sleep number", and slept like, well, a baby (who actually sleeps all night long).

The bed works like ...

make sure you love it or it will cost you $300

Overall
Rated 2 out of 5

My wife and I are returning our sleep number after 5 weeks of horrible sleep. Here is the kicker. Select comfort is going to charge us $300 to pick up the bed and we won't even get the remainder of our money back for 2 more weeks. We could have upgraded to the next best bed for just $900, really?

Personally this thing is a glorified air mattress. I thought it was gimmicky from the get go but my wife wanted to try it. the last couple of nights we slept on our old bed and slept great compared to the air mattress.

I am not aware of any other mattress that charges you $300 to return the product. They do let you know that there is a charge to return the bed, but they don't tell you its $300.

Not the best bed in the World

Overall
Rated 2 out of 5

I really do NOT like this bed.  I don't have the kind with the digital control, but that's not even the problem.  This bed deflates ALL the time, which makes it VERY uncomfortable.  I had to buy a new "bladder" for it already, which, if you read the fine print in the "warranty" each year that goes by on the warranty, is less money they cover and more money out your pocket.  The other REALLY annyoing thing about this bed, it the size.  I purchased a Queen.  But queen sheets do NOT fit this bed.  It is slightly LARGER than a standard Queen and I am SURE that their own brand of sheets fit just fine, except I don't WANT their sheets.  The sheets that I buy (even deep pocket sheets) pop off at the corners ALL the time.  I do not recommend this bed to anyone with a bad back either.  Since purchasing this bed, I've had MORE back problems, not less.  I do not get a good night's sleep, but I am stuck with it.

Sleep Number Beds are wonderful

Overall
Rated 4 out of 5

We recently attended a conference in Orlando and stayed at the Radisson in Lake Buena Vista. The room had 2 Sleep Number beds. We were so excited because we have been thinking of getting one, but trying it out in the store isn't always the best determination if you are going to be comfortable or not. The first night, we slept on one of the beds and we didn't really find it to be all that comfortable, so the next night we switched to the other bed in the room. Much better. The first bed must have had some type of air leak or something. What I like about the Sleep Number bed is that you can change it depending on how you feel on any particular night. I like my bed nice and soft, but whe...

Best bed I've ever slept on.

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

The sleep number bed is by far the best bed I've ever slept on!  I am a thin framed woman with wide hips, I figured my hip problems were due to my shape not my bed.  However upon purchasing the Sleep Number Bed and feeling the difference between air supported and spring resistance, my hip problems quickly became a thing of the past.  It turns out that my problems were from the spring pressing into and against my hip, putting it out of alignment with the rest of my spine/body.

The Sleep Number bed has also helped my husband and I be comfortable in the same bed, I am a soft 40 while he is a very firm 70.  We would have never been able to find a bed that we would both be ha...

Sleep Number bed will blow up on your sleep

Overall
Rated 1 out of 5

I am married and when I think of expending a lot of money in a product it means I am willing to invest in something for it to last a long time we use this bed for about 3 yrs and actually the part where my husband sleep have been use even less than that guess what? While we were sleeping my hubby bed chamber blow up yay! So I called customer service because we were supposed to have a 20 yrs guarantee on the bed Bull! **There is just the 2 yrs guaranteed after you pay 2000 dollars for the bed **and you get to keep paying the broken parts that are manufacturer faults yourself, so be ready if you want this bed to expend about 200 to 300 a year on parts that you get to assemble yourself....

Wonderful Mattress

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

I have a bad back so my husband and I decided that we needed to find a good mattress to help me rest easier. Went to several stores and tried several mattresses. However, we could never agree on a mattress. In fact if my husband thought a mattress was comfortable I would find it to be painful for me to lay on it. Finally we found the sleep by number mattress. Although it was a bit pricey, it wasn't priced much differently than other high end mattresses and it has been well worth it. Both my husband and I can set our own side of the bed to our desired setting and wake up the next morning refreshed from a good nights sleep. I also love the ability to change the firmness when my back is in need of more or less support.

Love it!

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

I was so surprised to see so many negative reviews about the Sleep Number bed because my husband, poodle and I are all big fans! (Yes the poodle sleeps in there even when no one is home!) Anyway, although I thought the sleep number was a hefty investment, I looked at it as just that - an investment. We have had our bed for 4 years now. After getting over the initial novelty of playing with the remote control, I have only adjusted the bed a few times since. I deal with chronic pain every day. So having a bed the I can make firmer and softer as necessary is very important to me. Don't be fooled when they tell you that you need more than one remote control. I almost paid extra for that and...

I thought it would be better than it was

Overall
Rated 2 out of 5

I was disappointed when I finally got to try the Sleep Number Bed.  Last summer my son was in the hospital for a whole month and during his stay his father and I stayed at the Ronald McDonald House.  The McHouse had Sleep Number beds in all their rooms (a donation from Sleep Number :), and at first I was so excited to finally get to sleep on the bed that I hear so much about on the television.  Well, don't listen to the hype...it is NOT **all that!  The soft is too soft and the hard is to hard; and it doesn't stay...it gradually deflates.  It's terrible for two people to sleep on esp. if they have extremely different numbers.  Making love is also alittle difficult on it because the top of it sort of bunches up underneath your back and gives too much resistance.  Most of the time I got better sleep on the couches in the hospital.  **SO GLAD I WAS ABLE TO TRY IT BEFORE I BOUGHT IT!!

I have never slept better

Overall
Rated 4 out of 5

We have had our Sleep number bed for 5 years now. At first I loved the comfort but felt like I had to climb the center baffle to snuggle with my husband, but perseverance softened the center and now we don't even notice it. My husband is frustrated by the fact that if we have a power failure the setting goes back to 50, and we have to reset it to the numbers we have chosen. He feels that a bed this expensive should have a back up battery to save the setting, and i have to agree with him, if it wasn't for that I would have given it a 5 star rating. We really do sleep better than in any other bed.

My husband and I purchased Select Comfort's top of the line split king bed with Flexfit foundations and accessories.  This merchandise is a complete ripoff. It's just two twin beds that sit close (a foot of space between them).  The massage function makes a loud grinding noise that you will hear no matter where you are in the house.  I was advised by Select Comfort that I should install carpet in my bedroom to muffle that sound. The two mattresses are saggy and pathetic.  They smell of chemicals, and customer service directed me to take out the air chambers and foam and set them in the sun or stuff dryer sheets in them.  The Flexfit foundations are unreturnable and S...

Still trying to figure it out, but love the process.

Overall
Rated 4 out of 5

We bought a sleep number bed about two years ago.  When faced with the small sale that the local store was having, plus the phenominal warranty, it was just a no brainer.  I wanted a mattress that I wouldn't have to worry about, and I believe that's what we got.  From the salesman, who took his time with our indecisiveness and our then two children skipping all over his store, the the very sweet and careful deliverymen who made sure I was completely satisfied before they left the house, to the promise of customer service that we've heard nothing but fantastic things about - I just can't see how we could go wrong.  We are by no means a well off family.  If anything, t...

Worst bed ever

Overall
Rated 1 out of 5

Worst bed ever, i just got it last night and i hated it the moment i inflated it. Its just an expensice air mattress. and thats all it feels and sounds like. Yes sounds like you can hear it when you move. I woke up more times last night then i ever have in my life. And forget about your sleep number if someone comes to your side of the bed because just like any other air mattress when someone else sits on it, it gets twice as firm then when they move it deflates. so you can have your side adjusted just dont let him (or her) on your side of the bed or theyll mess it up. Ive had this bed less than 24 hours and i want it out of my house. I loved the one in the stoor. "maybe you didnt buy the sa...
