I purchased the Select Comfort 7000 after giving it a LOT of thought and hearing from a lot of people how much they like their 5000.  The $3100 charge was on my card before I even received the call about delivery.   Delivery was a $160 nightmare .... they seem to expect that we should take a day off work to wait for them . . . I explained that if I do that, I can't pay for the bed!  They didn't care, and they were very unaccommodating about delivery time.  Don't tell until day before.

1st night on the bed, I felt like I was in a slow cooker. After 2nd night I called the company to ask what's wrong with all this heat.  They were "surprised" because that's not a complaint they get.  After reading the reviews here, I can see they lie, heat is DEFINITELY a problem.   On my old bed I used a heated mattress pad set at medium heat because high was too hot for me.   This heat (took about 2 hours to build up) was hotter than the high setting on the electric pad.  I'm guessing that the same fabric they pitch as being cooler, is actually stopping the heat from leaving the pillowtop.  I asked a friend to sleep in it for a night because he was tired of hearing me whine about, and said that after 2 hours he woke up drenched in sweat -- and it was 62 degrees inside -- still winter outside, what will happen in the summer????  I find myself moving constantly trying to get out of the hot spot.

Another problem -- the lump in the middle of the bed.  I am a solo sleeper, bought the queen.  I have back issues, so flipping is not easy.  I was told that if I get a single air chamber and sleep near the edge of the bed, the other side will lift.   So, I got the 2 chambers, but I can't roll over the hump in the middle.  It's a firm sponge hump.

I called "customer service" and they extended my trial to 60 days.  Fed me a line -- it takes time to adjust and you need to buy a $250 silver mattress pad.  I don't think so!   Bad enough I had to buy queen size sheets.   I thought that maybe if I got the 5000 (the one everyone recommended) in a king size and returned the queen 7000, it might work better. I won't bore you with all the details, but by the time they charge $200 to pick up, and whatever else they were tacking on, it was going to cost me another $300 -- yet the king 5000 is $500 less.

After reading the other reviews here, I'm glad I decided to return it. I must say that my back and hip pain has been hugely reduced, BUT I'm tired all the time and whining all the time about the hot bed!
