Sleep Number Bed - Select Comfort  —

We have had this bed for a couple of years. It is nothing but trouble and pain. The seprate chambers allow you to sleep at different firm or soft levels,ok and keep you on oppsite sides of the bed! If one of us trys to sleep next to the other one then we have to lay in the ditch in between! The foam cover that went over the air chambers ripped after the first year. We diddnt even try to get it replaced because the general concept of the bed is each side can be pumped up or down,so imagine folding a piece of paper in half over and over,it will rip just like that foam cover! We both wake up with severe back pain every day! If my husband gets up to go to the bathroom I fall over into his spot! Then when you go to make the bed if you don't pump it up it looks deflated and forget about sitting on the edge to get dressed! So if you do pump it up to make it then you have to mess with it again when you go to sleep that night! If you are thinking of getting one.......don't!

My wife and I have a Queen 5000 for the past 3 years. Like many reviews, it has started to sink in the middle but only on my air mattress. I have been waking up with a sore back, but my wife has no problems. As far as the weight goes, I don't think that is the problem, I am 160 lbs and my wife is 125 lbs. I would like to think that a new air mattress for my side is all that is needed to solve the problem... The other thought I have on this is the number setting... we both sleep at 35 and I am wondering if the lower numbers cause the problem.

I have had a Queen 5000 for going on three years now and have experienced none of the problems you are mentioning. I snuggle with my girl friend of seven years in it constantly. The middle of the bed does not cause us any problems. As far as the pump goes, honestly we pretty much set it and forget it. Maybe a couple of times a year I will readjust, I'd say four tops. Then again maybe it's a weight thing. I'm 6' 160lbs, she's 5'11" 150lbs. I'd be curious to find out if people having problems are heavier, might be helpful in establishing a pattern if any.
