Although this is an expensive mattress and one would assume that price pertains to performance, this mattress did not live up to my expectations in terms of comfort. I owned this mattress for about a year in my past and could not get use to it due to it's memory foam. I found it caused me to feel some what claustrophobic while sleeping as it confined and conformed to my body a little too much. Comfort The comfort of this mattress is not to my liking. I often would wake with pain in my back because the foam is too stiff. I like to sleep towards the edge and semi in the middle of my mattress and I found that while sleeping I would end up more in the center of the bed as it was more comfortable to my body than the outer space. Support In terms of support this memory foam offers, it did not suffice in eliminating my usual back pain I experience while asleep. The foam was way too tough for me and would leave me with a stiff back and neck. Firmness This is very firm memory foam that conforms to you're body but a little too much as it makes maneuvering around task full. It would leave impressions of my body in the foam as I would switch sleeping positions making it uncomfortable. Durability In terms of durability, this is a sturdy mattress that held up during month's of use without tearing or retaining stains.

This bed isnt for everyone or all the companies that make conventional mattresses would be out of business. But if you need a softer mattress and your partner needs a firmer one....or vice versa...then this really is the perfect bed. The memory foam top prevents the movement that you find in the P6. I tried both and laid on both for quite some time...not just a couple minutes. And your sleep number will change from bed style to bed style, so you need to make adjustments on each bed you try out. My backaches are gone....I can actually sleep on my back now....something I havent been able to do for 30 years! The bed is SO comfortable, I actually look forward to going to bed now instead of dreading it. And I hate to get out of it in the morning. :D Plus its light to move, which is a plus since we store things in the platform of our bed (we had our own platform and didnt use the one that came with the bed). I purchased a mattress cover for it (not from them) and although you can zip it all the way around because of the tubing, it goes nearly all the way so its well protected. For the money the bed costs, you dont want it getting stained with body secretions. This bed is no longer available....I purchased it the last day on sale...and has been replaced by an all memory foam bed. But I am satisfied with just having the foam on the top. Durability We havent had the bed long enough to really report on its durability, but if it lasts the 20 years its supposed to, it will have been worth it.

This bed has been the best bed we have ever gotten.  It was totally worth the price, we have never had this best of sleep ever, even our children want to sleep in our bed all the time.  When I end up falling asleep in my childs bed I always wake up feeling terrible.  I am so spoiled with this bed it is unbelievable.  I would highly recommend this bed to anyone who has terrible back aches.  You may find it gives you the best comfort.

We recently got this one from selectfoam.com and the experience has been fascinating. We had a hard time deciding on what mattress to buy, when I was buying this one I was still in 2 minds but went ahead got one for myself. Now I realise I made such a wise decision when I see that all my back ache problems are lost and I have a very sound sleep. These guys (the vendor) have also been very co-operative from the time of purchase and delivery till date. We had some confusions after buying it and their customer service was kind enough to help us in anyway they could. My wife has been suggesting this mattress to all our neighbors. All in all I have a much healthier life by having this product.

Sleep Number Performance Series p7 Mattress -- This mattress is awesome! I love have no backache when I wake up in the morning. It is amazing being able to adjust the firmness of the mattress. It is a great big plus! It's easy, quick, and quiet to adjust, and it comes with a wireless remote. The memory foam offers excellent support, and you can feel the foam conform around your body. It holds you perfectly. The ease of setup was amazing. It just took a little bit of assembly, and filled it with air, quick and easy. I have had this mattress for 2 years and have had no problems with it so far and don't expect to have any anytime soon. It is very durable and well made. Even though the economy is terrible right now, this is definitely worth the investment. Your back will thank you for this purchase! Trust me! It offers plenty of bang for the buck. If you want the best in sleeping, or have sleeping problems, this is the bed to go with.

My husband and I need different, he needs firm and I need soft due to some medical problems. We have had our number bed for about 5 years and I wouldn't trade it for the world. We both get what we need and we sleep great with no problems. Oh yes, one problem, all the cats like my side better. lol

The sleep number mattress labled as the Performance Series p7 mattress is probably quite a bit more expensive than most other mattresses that you are thinking of purchasing. I would render an opinion that it is well worth the extra expense to get this mattress over any foam or innerspring mattress that you are looking at. With the ability to change the firmness or softness of the mattress on either side independently of the other side, you will wind up with the mattress of your dreams if you purchase this mattress. I like a firm mattress, and my partner likes a softer mattress. We each can make our side just as we like it, and can even change it daily to match how we each feel on that particular day. If you sleep on your back, you would normally want a softer mattress, whereas if you sleep on your stomach, you probably want a firm mattress to keep you from bending backwards. If you purchase any of the other mattresses, you take the risk that is will not be correct for you, and will not be happy with it. The only issue mighht be if you have cats and allow them on the mattress, since it has air bladders.
