The Skippyjon Jones book series is one of the best things I've seen in a while in the world of children's books. It is simple enough that the children laugh, and subtly humorous enough to make the adults laugh, too. The basic storyline is that Skippyjon Jones is a Siamese kitten who thinks that he is a chihuahua. He has a vivid imagination that takes him to other lands and adventures that give him a chance to show who he really wants to be. He tries to use his "very best Spanish accent" and invents Spanish words as he plays. But the main reason I love the books is that they are so stinking...
read full review »Skippyjon Jones is a fun little kitty that has many adventures. Young and old will love this little furr ball. He is funny, imaginative and ready for adventure.
The book I am reviewing is Skippyjon Jones color crazy. The author Judy Schachner has made a bright colorful book for our youngest readers. The firm board book will hold up to sticky little hands, being tossed or chewed on.
This silly little book introduces some color to your child. Skippyjon Jones wants to color too. He can color a big blue sun, the tall grass yellow, the sky pink, a tree orange, a puddle purple, two brown bees , one...
read full review »Who would think that a siamese cat who thinks he is a chihuahua would be such a hilarious story. Judy Schacter has taken a precious little kitty-boy and turned him into a national craze. I discovered Skippyjon Jones quite by accident. I was going up and down the shelves at a children's book warehouse sale when I spied his precious little face on the cover. I am always a sucker for wonderful illustrations, and the pictures in the Schacter books help make them so wonderful. When I picked up the book for a read, I was hooked from the beginning. The author has such a way with words and presents Skippyjon...
read full review »The "Skippyjon Jones" book series is great for kids who don't like to read. The cute stories about a Siamese kitten who speaks with a Mexican accent and pictures himself as a Chihuahua are funny and draw you into the story just to see what the silly kitty will do next! (Speaking with a Mexican accent yourself while reading the story out loud adds to the fun!)
My 60 year old mother read "Skippyjohn Jones In The Dog House" with my daughters when she was visiting and she was laughing as much as the kids were! You can't help but smile when you read Judy Schachner's lively descriptions of the...
read full review »I bought the Skippyjon Jones books for my 4 year old son. They are hilarious, but hard to read quickly because they are small tongue twisters. We make them into a song - and laugh. The stories are cute and funny. The illustrations are very good and go along with the stories. They have good lessons if you can get past all the silliness to discuss them. Overall very cute books and you can buy them thru Scholastic book orders that are sent home with school aged children as well as thru bookstores.
