Skippyjon Jones is always a favorite with my class. This fun loving Siamese cat imagines wild adventures where he is a sword fighting Chihuahua named Skippito. The kids love it because funny things happen, there are little songs that involve clapping, it rhymes and there are lots of funny Spanish (and pretend Spanish) words included. My Spanish speaking students love to explain the real Spanish words to the rest of the class. They also find it humorous to hear the words that aren't really Spanish. The whole class especially loves to hear all the endearing, yet comical, things that Momma Junebug Jones calls poor little Skippyjon. I highly recommend this as a great read aloud book that all kids and grownups alike will enjoy.
