As Randy Jackson from American Idol would say "it was awwwright for me, dog!"

All kidding aside, Skinny Bitch is a fairly interesting read.

Skinny Bitch is a book about how to become a skinny. They claim that men and women constantly complain about how they look and their weight. In their opinion, do something about it. Stop eating like a cow. Stop eating A COW. Stop drinking from A COW.

The book very firmly asserts that everbody should be a vegan and organic. Basically, in their opinion-- Meat is bad, dairy is horrible and pesticides will kill you. They site numerous studies throughout the book that show how the FDA is corrupt, how we are the only animals on the planet that drink milk after childhood, etc, etc.

While there are many 'good points' made in the book (and on a personal level, I agree with many of them), I felt like there was little real substance to the book.  Yes, they sited a lot of sources for studies, but they werent the most credible sources. The authors are self-proclaimed "know-it-alls" and the book is based in little personal knowledge or medical studies. To me, that equals a little misleading.

In addition, I was a little shocked by the language in the book. I was expecting an edgy read, but these women are crass and very direct. Skinny "bitch" is nothing compared to the rest of the tone. I can definitely roll with the language, but I was taken aback several times.

At the end of the day, I am happy I read Skinny Bitch, but it was just awriiighhht for me. It is a healthy reminder to be mindful of what you put into your body. However, Im not certain that turning vegan and only eating organic will solve all your woes.

I do recommend SKINNY BITCH if you want to know what all the controversy is about. But, if you are truly looking for ways to live a healthier life-- or be skinny-- Im not certain it is the most practical book you can find.

The read is quick-- just a few train rides for me.

I was waiting for a friend to get ready before we hit the town this past weekend; saw her copy of Skinny Bitch on the coffee table and started reading. Got through a couple of chapters, and enjoyed it--it's fiction, right?!? Then my friend was ready, so we proceeded to hit the local club, had a beer and a burger, and I've never been happier...

I dont eat meat... and that certainly does not mean I'll get skinny.lol. Funny how peta activists think that not eating meat will guarantee you get skinny. Only excercise will = thin

Nice review, Jolie, though I seriously doubt Skinny Bitch is going to make me change my dietary habits.

In response to LaurieM's comment from Mar 11, 2008 at 1:07PM:

Honestly, I am glad that I read it.... and if you want to know what all the controversy is about, then it is worth it.... but, if arent willing to give up meat, dairy and non-organic food, then the book isnt terrible helpful.

I didn't know we were allowed to use the "B" word on Viewpoints!! LOL On a serious note, I'm glad to hear your view on this because there are so many of these types of books out that I never know what one to pick up!

Just working on my Amazon order and had this book on it and it will be taken right off. I wanted to see if there were any other reviews on this book I might have missed before ordering. Not into the Vegan stuff. Ya saved me a couple of bucks. Thanks. I will check out the other three authors they have listed in my group. Hope they are better. Thanks.

I like the title!

I was wondering about this book. The fact is (in my mind) that everything is bad for you. Every time I think I am eating healthy, a study comes out to dispel that. Now I just try to avoid bad fats and lots of chemicals and hope for the best.

Thanks for the "skinny" on this one! A

Yep, I think those skinny bitches may need a cheeseburger to lighten up a bit. They take the whole vegan, organic, and fasting stuff way too far in my opinion too. The language was cracking me up though.

I eat meat, I drink milk and I still lost 30 pounds in 4 months by just watching my fat and calorie intake. I didn't exercise as my body revolts and has my muscles screaming for pain pills if I overdo anything. I must be doing something right as I still wear the same pant size as I wore when I graduated high school 33 years ago. ;)

Well, it sounds like the authors have the skinny part down; now they just have to do something about the bitch part. LOL! Thanks for the heads up.

The author(s) must be related to PETA..hehe.
