The Verdict: Although I wouldn't be caught dead baring my skin on the beach, I love using SkinDecent's Bermuda Beach Smoother. It exfoliates gently and moisturizes with just one step and is very affordable.
Just the Facts: Last spring I placed a large order with a company called Skindecent.com which is an online bath and body products company based in Canada. Marliss, the owner, custom blends all the products to order. Almost everything she makes can be scented in your choic of over 100 different scents which are listed on her site.
One of the products I ordered that I just fell in love with is called Bermuda Beach Smoother which is a sugar scrub that is loaded with oils and cocoa and shea butters for softening and moisturizing.
Although this product has the word beach in it, I prefer to use it in winter when my skin turns flaky and itchy as it exfoliates all of that yuck off of me and leaves me moisturized. I've used scrubs in the past but they are almost always salt based. Whoever thought of that is crazy as exfoliating dry, cracked, winter skin with something salt based is torture. Sugar is a much better choice as it does not burn and sting.
A little bit of Bermuda Beach Smoother goes a long way. I just today used up my 8 ounce tub of it, having used it several times in the spring, not so much in the summer, and several times over the past month or so now that it's cold here again. It exfoliates gently and is good for preparing to shave my legs, although the oils tend to clog up my razor a bit.
I ordered my tub of scrub in the Blueberry Muffin scent which smells very genuine. The scent lingers on my skin for several hours. Best of all, I don't have to moisturize after getting out of the shower. I just scrub myself with BBS, rinse it off, and pat my skin dry so I don't wipe the butters off of my skin. BBS is also a good value. Eight ounces are only about $9.50.
The only complaints I have about BBS is that it can only be ordered online, shipping from Canada can be a little slow, and the top of the product can get a little crusty when the tub is not opened for a while. It is easy to mix it up and soften it up though.
Closing Argument: 5 stars. Now that I have found this product, it is the only scrub I will use. It's moisturizing, smells great, is gentler than salt scrubs, and is affordable.
