Somewhat hard to find, so so application, pink color rinses out

Although I have a lot of makeup, I don’t often go whole hog with liquid foundation. I most often wear a tinted primer and some bronzer.

But when I do use liquid foundation I like to use either a foundation brush or a sponge. I read about the Beautyblender sponge in a magazine and it looked like something that I would enjoy. I purchased the Beautyblender in part because it was a green product. It came with a sample of the cleanser and my thought was I would not have to replace it as frequently because I can clean it. It is designed to last three months with regular use.

On the Beautyblender website they say: Beautyblender’s patent-pending elliptical shape makes application foolproof by allowing you to access hard-to-reach areas with stunning ease. Its suede texture is sensual to the touch and its unique curves fit the contours of your face, leaving your make up dazzling and undetectable. Beautyblender is latex free, non-allergenic and odor free. I

t is true, the shape makes it easier to apply foundation around your nose and under your eyes, but I found the “suede texture” somewhat off putting. It seems to repel the foundation instead of spreading it well on my face. The most disturbing feature of the Beautyblender sponge I did not discover until I washed it. When I used the cleanser and rinsed, the rinse water was hot pink, the same color as the sponge. I though “yuck” as they suggest that you use the sponge damp for better coverage. I decided to use it (and wash it) a few more times. But the pink rinse water never went away. So it sits on my vanity until I can rinse it enough that the rinse water is clear.

When I used liquid foundation I did like sponges. If I ever go back I won't get this one!
