Whoopi plays a lounge singer in Reno who happens to witness a murder. Her boss Harvey Keitel orders her killed. Whoopi runs to the police and is hidden in a convent by the witness protection program. But before you know it, Whoopi is the leader of the nun's choir and teaching the nuns how to be down and be funky.
There are lots of problems with this movie but thanks to Whoopi and Kathy Najimy as Sister Mary Patrick and the presence of Harvey Keitel, you probably won't care too much...
I say probably because I did see that there could be a much better movie here than what we get. The director doesn't seem to have a flair for comedic timing and almost sabotages Whoopi a few times with his over-long static shots that at times constrain the comedy and can't seem to keep up with Whoopi or Najimy' energy.
There's a few intense moments that might be a bit much for the very young, but most of the film has a wonderful energy and again Whoopi's just so much fun to watch... I recommend this one.. with some reservation.
