GREAT LITTLE SINGER QUANTUM FUTURA C-250!!! A+++

5

Works wonderfully and makes beautiful embroidery! If you don't have experience with sewing or you are easily frustrated this machine will not be good for you. If you are an experienced person this machine is a little dream come true! Stitch Performance excellent. no problems. the machine worked perfectly out of the box with no problems. Ease of Use the machine is not so intuitive. so you have to THINK about what you are doing. if you cannot think through a problem this machine will be very frustrating for you to use. BUT when you have thought through the problem usually the solution is very easy with this machine. NONE of the small problems are too difficult to solve. Fabric Handling handles a broad array of fabrics VERY nicely. Versatility lots of uber cool stitches built in. also works nicely as a sewing machine, Design nicely machined parts and very well designed machine. Everything works well on this machine and it does so consistently. The software has a few glitches that are easily fixed with the software upgrade free on the Singer site. Durability I just bought this machine a few weeks ago. I've had a few things I've had to think through about how to use it. If you take your time you can understand how to use the machine. If you're in a hurry then you will have nothing but headaches with it. But this machine is a little gem and a workhorse too. Highly reccomended.

Stay Away - Stay FAR, FAR away!!!!!!!

I could not wait to get this machine.  I have had it and worked with it for 7 months now and my husband wants me to throw it out the front door because he is tired of seeing me so frustrated.  It is a VERY tempramental machine.  I constantly get a "thread broken" message and the thread is not broken.  I have tried everything.  Sometimes it will embroider the different sections off alignment so it ruins the piece.  I have wasted so much  money trying to make this machine work.  Constant jamming of the bobbin, even though I am using the correct bobbin.  Singer customer service is horrible also!

The CE 200 is really nice for regular sewing.

I was so excited when I got the *Quantum Futura CE200* as a gift from my husband. I dug right in and tried all the cool stitches, enjoyed embroidering "free-hand" motifs, and liked the easy demos on the disk.  However, I haven't seemed to have much luck with autopunch, and I'm so frustrated. I don't seem to be able to find a "by-my-side" tutor for this machine at the sewing/fabric stores. However, early on, I had two occasions to call the help-line number (in the accompanying manual) and I had a very cheerful and supportive response from the lady who really knew the machine! Not only did she advise on the solution to my problem, she also pointed out how I could avoid it, like being more sensitive to the two little "clicks" when beginning the threading process. That's the kind of info the manual should have.  Some accessories like various feet, bobbins and other itmes may be different from the traditional models.  Compared to my old Morse (1960's) and old Singer (70's),  the Futura took a lot getting used to in the areas of tension, bobbin fills, and threads.  I like my Futura, just wish I could master it and make it worth the price my husband paid for it! That would make us both happier!

Highly disappointing

wow. what a piece of crap from Singer. I think their idea behind it was brilliant...it just wasn't well planned out. I am absolutely disgusted by this machine, which sits packed in a box under my kid's bed. It's actually the SECOND one as the first was crap too. I have to give props to Singer that they replaced the original one without a receipt and having not even bought it directly from them, but I think it's because they KNEW what a piece the thing was. The sewing part works just OK. You have to keep in mind it's very computerized sewing. So if you're used to a good old fashioned mechanical machine, this is totally different. This machine is SO tempermental! It's constantly beeping one error or another, or saying the thread is broken when it's not. Just all around a complete and utter disappointment :(

Great Lower Priced Sewing/Embroidery Machine

4

I bought the Singer CE-200 about 4 years and still use it today mainly for occassional sewing. When I bought the machine, I intially bought it for its less expensive embroidery function. I had previously used my mother's more expensive embroidery machine and wanted to do more embroidery projects at home, but without breaking the bank. This machine allowed me to do that. **Pros:** Cost moderately low for an embroidery machine Sewing & Embroidery all in one Singer well known brand **Cons:** Autopunch software is hard to figure out for the more novice user Needs to be hooked up to computer for the embroidery function to work Lack of support (even with Singer brand, it is hard to find support for the machine & software unless you actually take it in to an authorized dealer) I should mention that I only use the machine occassionally so I am not sure how it would hold up under more heavy use. Even with its issues, I would still recommend this machine to others & I would buy it again.

The Futura is a great machine for everyday needs and speciality

This machine is so fantastic for everyone who can sew on even a button.  It can handle a quilt and even small repairs.  It is lightweight and compact with many features that make it easy to handle and move to different rooms.  I really like the way that it handles for me.  The Quantum is the greatest sewing machine of the twenty first century so far.  It can be stored and taken to events as church quilting organizations and other events that a individual could possibly enjoy. Embrodery designs are possible with Quantum.  Apply easily with easy to follow directions on childrens clothing or names on uniforms or caps for your sons or husband.  They will really enjoy the personal touch that you apply for them. It threads easily and sews with smoothness and ease even for the most exsperienced or inexsperienced seamstress. When other family members see the Quantum they will be delighted and curious and will be excited to own of the beautiful and great performing Quantum sewing machines. The quantum will give many years of great service when serviced on a regular basis by your local Singer dealer. I have another older Singer machine that still works well but the Quantum is updated with more features and may become a very popular sewing machine of the future also.  There are many Singer Sewing Machines still being used that are eighty and ninety years old and are still in good running condition.  By going on line to Singer Sewing Machines  parts for Singer Sewing Machines ever produced by Singer may be found and ordered.  The Singer Quantum has a life time Warranty guarnteed by Singer.  By only the flip of finger or the press of a button the Quantum will do designs or change stitches.....,it comes with specific directions to follow for the Quantum.  A telephone hotline is listed in the directions or go to the site for Singer to get all the information you need for upkeep or trouble shooting for the Quantum if you feel you need to but I don't forsee any problems if you take the Quantum to your nearest Singer certified dealer for general cleaning and maintenance.  The Quantum is a sturdy and reliable machine.Watch for ads in your favorite magazines or go your local certified Singer dealer and check out the great and modern performing Quantum.

A great value for beginning embroidery

5

I own a Singer Futura CE-250 and I love it. I just started learning machine emboidery. There one button back-up is very convienent, and I was surprised that the needle up/down button works as a forward button when in embriodery mode. I also love the different stitches this machine offers, as I also quilt.

temperamental, constantly breaking

1

i started with a singer 200, upgraded to the 250 and 4 machines later in less than a year, it still does not work well. all issues were different and not my fault.this machine is very temperamental, and has ruined so many projects midway through  , i hate to think about how much money i've lost on top of the machine itself.autopunch is not as simple as it sounds and the software is rudimentary to anyone used to computers.save your money.

A great machine for the price

4

This is a great machine for the price.  The only downside is that it is very sensitive and the software is difficult to load.  Once the machine is up and running, it is very simple and fun to use.  I do NOT like the autopunch software.  It is very hard to use.  The machine has great stitches and fun features.  It sews beautifully and the embroidery software is fun to use.  I love that you can just download from the internet and use images.  there are SO many free images available for download that you can sew beautiful designs for the price of thread only.  I have really enjoyed my machine.  I would recommend signing up for a class to teach you how to use the machine before getting started!
