a machine for any need - mending, sewing, embroidery & quiliting

Overall

this sewing machine is great.  the computerized screen makes is very easy to select stitches.  some embroidery patterns are built in.  It can connect to your PC and you can download customized embroidery patterns.  It takes singer SD cards, which cost about $50/each each featuring various embroidery themes.  The machine comes with with different hoops and a continuous border hoop.  there is a practice manual/workbook included and software for your pc.  there are also over 1000 "stock designs" included.  You get at least 3 other SD discs of embroidery patterns.  other features include automatic button hole, and there are about 20 different ones, the manual describes which to use on what type of material.  there is an automatic threader and an automatic bobbin winder.  there is a continuous embroidery bobbin feature and an dual threader for the embroidery unit.  there is also a knee bar to lift the presser foot.  i love this machine.

I havn't found a project that I couldn't tackle with it.

I have  3 sewing machines and this one is by far my favorite!  I have made and altered lots of clothes made several quilts (including the quilting) and embroidered on countless shirts, bags, and home decor items.  The XL-6000 came with a small hoop, a 4x4 hoop, a 5x7 hoop, and a continuous hoop for embroidering borders.  The embroidery functions are very easy to set up and run.  The ability to connect to the computer makes the number of designs available to choose from endless.  To top it all off  it is very durable.  I have had this machine for several years during which time I have used it almost daily and I have NEVER had a problem with the machine.  Everytime I turn it on it runs just like it should.

singer XL 6000, don't by it, I work about half the time.

My husband bought for me a brand new Singer XL 6000.  I spent a lot of time trying to learn how to use the machine using the manual and working with it.  After using it only briefly for embroidery I ran into problems.  First of all the automatic thread exchanger does not take into account that the color of thread you are using at the time may have broken, so when it re-threads automatically it goes to the next color instead of rethreading the current color you are using.  In the long run I found to to be more work to use it than not.  The manual has no table of contents so each time you wish to refer  to it, you will basically have to go thro...

Totally love it

Overall

I've had my XL 6000 for 18 months now, and totally love it! The embroidery is beautiful, and it sews like a dream. I bought this machine to replace separate sewing and embroidery machines. I love the large embroidery field on the Singer, and the fact that it comes with 3 sizes of hoops, including one small enough to hoop hats and socks. It actually threads the needle, from the top of the machine through the eye of the needle, automatically. The thread exchanger allows you to "stage" or set up your next thread color in your embroidery design, it cuts the current thread, re-winds it onto the spool, and threads the next color automatically. If you run out of bobbin thread during embro...

The Singer Quantum XL taught me how to sew.

Overall
Rated 4 out of 5

I almost didn't buy a Singer.  I had heard they had become foreign owned and the quality had dropped significantly.  I took the advice of my favorite sewing store owner and bought it.  I haven't been disappointed.

I had no clue how to sew embroidery.  I am an old quilter.  I would never dream of machine quilting.  I did machine quilt a couple of baby quilts and was pleased.  The embroidery fits in nicely making quilt blocks.  The quality of the embroidery, of course, depends upon who designed it.  Stick with the quality stock of embroidery patterns; there are many suppliers.

My only "wish" is that the Quantum XL 6000 had as larger hoop surface like some other manufacturers (ex. Bernina and Pfaff).  The Singer has an adapter stand type thing to make a larger sewing surface.  I bought it but it was too awkward to bother with.

I've had this machine for a few years now and will probably buy a Singer again,

Quantum XL 6000 Truly love this machine, not the manual.

Overall

I purchased the Quantum XL6000 machine in March  2008 and love it. I had trouble in the beginning getting it to work with Vista. I ordered a new cable to connect the computer to the machine and no problem since. Sews out beautiful designs and love the endless bobbin. True the manual is not user friendly but with some time and practice I figured it out. Would love to find some videos. The machine is a very strong machine, does not seem like a plastic box as some of the others I tried. October to December the machine was use almost daily, I made gifts for everyone on my Christmas list, no problem. The Quantum XL 6000 is a wonderful machine to sew on. The designs are easy to down...

The SINGER© XL 6000 sewing and embroidery machine is truly the ultimate in sewing. Use the thread exchanger and embroider with continuous thread changes. Make borders with ease using the continuous hoop which is included. Instructions are now a pop up on the screen and much easier to find and understand. When you run out of bobbin thread the SINGER© XL6000 sewing machine will rewind the bobbin right off a spool and thread automatically and continue to sew. No other house hold embroidery machine has these great features plus a large hoop, the ability to do multi-hooping, built-in embroidery, lettering and more.

The SINGER XL 6000 comes with a great warranty package. 5 years ...

When you hear the name 'Singer', you immediately think, 'sewing'

I decided it was  time to trade in my old workhorse embroidery machine for a top of the line Singer Quantum XL6000. I had been drooling over it for some time, It has state-of-the-art, upgradeable features.  Some of the featuers I was drooling over included the . Must-have features of an automatic thread exchanger that rethreads the machine between the two color thread spools eliminating the need to rethread after every color change. A continuous hoop that creates perfectly aligned borders for any desired length. You can create large (10" x 18") embroidery patterns by using the multi-hoop embroidery with fabric positioning system

Love all the features of this model sewing machine. it's great for plain sewing, it's great on leather, and the embroidery is by far the best I have seen. My friends have Janome's and they are jealous because I am not limited in size like they are! LOVE IT! And I bought my used off Ebay and just love it!

XL6000 Does a job if you watch thread on auto bobbin

Overall
Rated 4 out of 5

I have the XL6000 Singer sewing and embroidery machine . I have had it worked on twice for thread wraping around the bobbin case.Ihave found the tread from the automatic bobbin does not always cut the thread  If you watch the spool to see if the thread is moving when the machine starts back ,cut the machine off and cut the thread. You can remove a small amount of thread with a small blade and tweezers. When your bobbin gives out you will have to rethread, a little inconvenence but will save $200.I am calling singer today to report this problem.

I worked for Singer a few yrs ago and purchased because of price and versabilty.  At first I loved it.  But first I had trouble with the bobbin winder and had to get fixed. There must of been close to a full spool of thread wrapped up in it.  Then it would just stop moving.   I got fixed for about 200 bucks it worked about a month then the same thing happened again.  I do also have a 1000 and love it.

This machine gave me no trouble at all making Christmas presents for 18 people this season.  The only drawback was when I was trying to sew with a 300 weight fleece.  I was sewing a hat that required 3 layers to go through and that is difficult for any machine but I did it.  The trick was to go very slowly.
