Great machine for the beginner

5

This is an excellent machine for someone just beginning to sew and beyond. I bought this singer just on brand name alone since I didn't know much about the different sewing machines at the time. I'm very glad I did! It is very simple to use and is great to learn on. I've had mine about 3 yrs and just recently upgraded to a singer stylist for the extra stitch options. Stitch Performance I was very satisfied with stitch performance. There isn't a huge variety of stitches on this machine but it has the most commonly used/needed ones. Ease of Use Very easy! I can't stress this enough. From winding the bobbin to threading the needle it is very easy to use. Fabric Handling Nothing bad to say here either. I found that any type of fabric that I used was fed easily through the machine. I've even done a small quilt. Versatility I've sewn clothes, a small quilt, and various baby items without a hitch. Design The design is very good with this machine. Nothing negative to say. Durability Very durable. I have sewn a ton on items on this singer and never had a problem. It has also been moved around a lot and no issues there either.

Great Machine!

I purchased this to replace my sewing machine that broke. I loved my old machine, but they no longer made that model. When I purchased this Singer, I was shocked that I loved my old one so much. This sewing machine is so much better than the model I had. It is easy to use, small, and gives you jsut the right amount of settings without overloading you with too much. The over all performance of this Singer is great!! The stitches are perfect, it is easy to thread, and ot slides the fabric with ease, I have has no problems with my fabric "bunching" up. This Singer is made well, and looks nice enough to leave out in my office.

Doesn't live up to the brand name.

I thought i had gotten lucky when i purchased this machine because i had got it on a good sale. all the sewers i know told me when i got a new sewing machine that i should get a singer because they are the best brand. i got this one fully expecting that to be true. they were right in some ways. it's a smooth sewer. it has a soft hum and i like the fact that it offers a variety of stitches. another plus is that it does button holes! for some reason mine doesn't want to wind(sp?) the bobbin. i've followed the directions every single time but for some reason it goes out of control. i returned the machine and got another one, but the same thing happened with it. i let my mom try it out to make sure it wasn't just me and it also did the same thing with her. i expected the machine to be almost perfect just because singer is such a widely known name. i really wish i would have put a little more money into and got another brand of a sewing machine.

A great machine, the name says it all-- Simple!

When I moved into my new place I decided to get busy with decorating, but with a limited budget I decided to try out the DIY home decorating approach. This meant getting a sewing machine! After researching many stores online offerings and reviews I decided to go with the Singer Simple as it had the best price, features, and most positive ratings. It has 23 different stitches, a button hole function, a light, and converts to free-arm. This machine is easy to thread and use. I've had experience with other brands of machines before, but none came close to this one! It really is perfect for someone just starting out in sewing. The initial adjustments to tension and all took some trial and error, but once it was set just right, it sewed so smoothly! I'm not sure it's strong enough to handle thick fabrics, but for light tailoring and home elements, it's perfect!

How to change the stiches????

3

My main problem, and i may look silly, its just that there's where the stitches are listed, there are blue stitches and black stitches. Well i dont know how to put it on the blue ones. Its frustrating! i dont know if its the machine that its damaged, but im going crazy trying to figure it out since i got it!!! Can anyone help me please?? My email is iarasbelen@hotmail.com Over all the machine is nice and all but its so simple that i cant work with it! Making the buttons holes is so difficult and the instructions dont give u enough information.

Learning is a breeze with this machine!

I always wanted to learn how to sew, but didn't have the opportunity before. I got this singer thinking of basic sewing, like hemming pants (saving money), curtains, decor pillows and other simple stuff. This machine does it all and more...I can't wait to get classes and improve my sewing. it's so easy to use and has so many nice features (my mother-in-law was very surprised by it's price x features), tons of different stiches, buttom holes, automatic thread, nice storage for small stuff. It is lightweigh, very portable, and you can take anywhere in the house. plus, is singer...reliable and durable! in the other hand, the manual of instructions was not clear at all; I was not expecting much, but they made it difficult! I looked over the internet and found some videos to help me out! I really can't complain, I'm just learning but I'm very happy, and eager to use my sewing machine more and more! great value for the money!!!

Cheap and wonderful

5

This machine was a kind of quick purchase because I needed a sewing machine badly. It was cheap and was a singer so I gave it a try. I has been surprisingly wonderful! As long as you have the right needles I have been able so sew anything. The bobbin is really easy to deal with too. I always had trouble putting in the bobbins in other machines. I have fixed a lot of jeans and made blankets and all kinds of goodies with no problem with this machine! It was harder for me to figure out the stitches because the wheel just has pictures and the manual is kind of un-organized. I have had this machine for over a year and still love it. My only problem is that the manual is not very straight forward and hard to find what you need. It is in there but hard to find it.

My new Singer Simple Sewing Machine 2263

4

Mom taught me lots of needlework and sewing when I was growing up, but I didn't really like sewing. The last year or so I somehow developed an interest in it and comparison shopped for months before deciding to get the Singer Simple Sewing Machine 2263. I didn't want one that did everything you could possibly want one to do. Just the basics, straight stitch, zig zags, buttonholes, hems, etc. I trust the Singer brand and this one has a good warranty. I feel like I made the right decision. I made my little grandsons each a small pillow with John Deere cases for my first project. I was so excited and so were they. The machine is easy to use, looks really nice and is easy to switch stitches. It comes with bobbins and a few accessories and even has an automatic needle threader which I got right the first time I tried it, but not since. But heck, I know how to thread a needle. I found the instructions to be clear and straightforward. The motor is a bit louder than the one my mom had, but hers was a very expensive model even 20 years ago. And it seems to have a little bit of trouble with stretchy material. But then again, it could very well be my inexperience. I am really happy with this machine and recommend it as a general all around sewing machine. I am doing one project after another and loving every minute of it. I am so glad I decided to get a Singer, and this model 2263 is just perfect for me.

Great Little Singer Singer Simple 2263Sewing Machine

The **Singer Singer Simple 2263 was a gift from my mother in law last year. It's a great machine for light sewing, stitching rips, hems and crafts. It is not meant for big, heavy duty sewing. I love it for all my needs!**

Singer Simple is a great starter machine!

4

I got the singer Simple as a gift for my birthday. I had been researching other brands and kept coming back to Singer, hearing that they were the best and even my grandmother, an accomplished seamstress, had used a Singer when she was learning to sew. I finally got a chance to take my machine out of the box after a week or two of dreaming about crafts. It was fairly easy to set up, especially for a complete 100% beginner. I did have to rethread the bobbin a few times before it caught correctly, but trial and error worked the best. The instruction manual was helpful, but I do feel it could have been more clearly written. There was a peice of the machine that only emerges out of the top when you spin the wheel on the side... this was not clearly explained and at first I thought that my machine was missing this piece. A more experienced friend had to tell me how to expose the piece. Overall I would say it's a great machine if you're learning how to sew but more a more experienced seamstress would probably want more options.
