Singer Inspiration 4205 Mechanical Sewing Machine is amazing!

5

The singer Inspiration 4205 Mechanical Sewing Machine is one of the best things I own.My mom baught id for me as a birthday gift and I couldn't love her more for it.I sew quite often repairing my husbands clothes to making costumes for my little ones.So this machine is great for heavy duty and light weight projects. It is super easy to thread and has lots of great features. Bobbins are easily made and place in the bobbin holder. I do lots of things with this machine. From regular sraight stitches to button holes and options for other fancier stitches. If you don't have an embroidery machine you can actually do a lot of embroidery on this machine. Lots of stitches and sizes. It is very easy to use even if you only familiar with simple machines. Singer I believe is the best sewing Machine brand out there. My mom has been sewing for years before me and she also believes in singer sewing products. Great value and still not super expensive. This machine is my favorite electroninc devise in the house!

Singer Inspiration, okay for occasional use

3

The Singer Inspiration is okay for occasional use. It is simple to use and the price was very good. I would not however recommend it or anyone who sews a lot or has a big project to complete. I found that the machine jammed a lot. This got to be extremely frustrating. I took my new machine in to a sewing machine repair shop after only using it a few times. The guy told me that the Singer Inspirations are known to jam a lot and that he doesn't even touch them. He said that they cannot be repaired and that it was just the way they are designed. The thread take-up does not hang onto the thread securely causing it to fall off and the machine and jam. I would not recommend this machine unless you plan to use it very infrequently. After my experience with this machine I will not buy another singer. Even the low price is not worth the frustration in my opinion.

Great general purpose machine

This is a secondary machine I purchased when living in another state when my primary machine was still in storage. It is easy to thread, handles most materials well and in 2 years I have never had a problem with it. I now use it in tandem with my primary machine. I have the two threaded with different colors for large projects. I also find because of the lightweight I grab it first for minor repairs. A great value for a beginner or for a second machine. Projects ranging from lined curtains for a bedroom to a formal business suit have been completed on this machine. I attempted to create appliques for children's clothing and found that it was harder to control the foot pedal than a more expensive machine. All the basic functions are there: reverse stitch, button holes, stitch tension, stitch length and width. There are a handful of stitches to chose from and this is where the more expensive Singer comes in most handy. For everyday sewing this machine is a great value.

Singer 4205 - you get what you pay for

3

When it comes to the Singer Inspiration 4205, you get what you pay for. My local fabric and craft store offers around 15 models of sewing machines, all but 2 being Singer. I assumed that any Singer would work just about the same, but apparently I was wrong. It worked fine for a little, but after working with it for a while, I found out that some things were very touchy. I've had a lot of problems with the tension. Sometimes it seems like it gets stuck on one setting and it just will not adjust as much as I fiddle with it. One time I turned it the whole way to the negative side then the whole way to the positive side and saw absolutely no difference in tension. Still the same crappy loose stitch. Occasionally the thread will break because the tension is too tight but if I turn it down, the stitches will be loose and loops will form on the backside of what I'm sewing. My advice, pay as much as you can afford. If I buy another machine, I'll gladly pay more to avoid these annoying problems.

A decent machine for inexperienced sewers.

The Singer Ispiration Sewing Machine is a decent swing machine, but only for sewers that only need a machine once in a while. I currently use two machines, one from Brother and this Singer Model and can honestly say that the Brother one is better. The Singer machine's tension always seems to be off. I can never get the loops to be at a good tension. The stitches always seem to be a little bit loose. The one feature I really like about this machine is that it does a pretty good hem once you figure out how to do it correctly. The instructional DVD that comes with the machine was extremely helpful as well. There are videos you can watch on pretty much every topic regarding the machine, including decorative finishes that can be tricky to figure out with only the printed instructions, and different hems and finishes. Overall, the Singer Inspiration Sewing Machines are of pretty good value for the price, but are not for heavy duty sewers.

This is a great machine for anyone wanting to learn to sew, or someone who already knows and wants a quality machine. This machine has several different stitches and is so user friendly and uncomplicated. I just started sewing and I have to say this was a great buy! Singer always makes quality items!
