I guess I'm in the minority here, but I would not recommend this machine unless you plan on sewing only on occasion, and doing lightweight work. I sew handbags, and even lighter weights of fabrics that my old, $75, bottom-of-the-line Singer could handle get jammed up in this machine. The problem doesn't seem that the motor can't handle it - it seems to be in the way the feed dogs sit. Fabric just doesn't seem to feed through this machine well at all, and the pressure foot doesn't seem to provide the pressure needed to feed heavier weight items through.
I also hate that the needle always ends in the up position, which is annoying for re-positioning or turning work. The reverse stitch will stitch at least two more times after you release it, which makes it hard to do precision work. There also seems to be a short in my cord or a computer/electrical related problem as the machine randomly blinks on & off and 'resets' itself from time to time.
The positives are that decorative stiches are cute and easy to use. The machine is easy to thread. And it makes a nice straight stitch, provided you aren't trying to sew through anything too heavy. This would probably be a great machine for someone who mends on occasion, does a little garment sewing, or quilts a bit.
Don't be fooled, this is still basically an entry-level machine with a few extra bells & whistles. If you sew on a regular basis, or on anything heavier than twill, I absolutely would not recommend it.
