My boys love hash browns, but it sure takes a long time to shred potatoes. I don't have to worry about that now though, because Simply Potatoes has fresh shredded potatoes in bags in the refrigerator section at the grocery store.

We've bought frozen hash browns, and they're pretty good. But, they don't taste like homemade. Simply Potatoes do. They look, feel and taste like potatoes. If someone served them and didn't say they were convenience potatoes, I'd never guess.

These are easy to make. Just put a couple of tablespoons of oil in the pan. Pour in the hash browns. Mash. Let them brown. Turn. Cook the underside. That's it.

I actually like them better with butter instead of oil, so that's how we've been making them after the first time according to the directions.

One thing I'd note is that the hash browns are not seasoned or very lightly seasoned. I add pepper and seasoning salt, because straight potatoes don't have a whole lot of flavor.

One bag makes a large amount. I'd say it's six good sized helpings. We only need half a bag. The bags don't look that big, but when you pour them in the pan, there's a lot there. Our dog got some of the first batch - only because we were totally full before we finished up the pan. I would add that Hershey loved the hash browns too.

In addition to cooking these in a skillet, they make a nice side dish for cook outs. Just put some oil or butter in an aluminum pan. Cover with foil. Stir once or twice over about 15 minutes - maybe 20 if the heat isn't too high.

Yum. Sounds great. Will have to try that. We keep playing around with these. So many options. Great product. The Simply Potatoes mashed potatoes are really good too. My son ate them before I could make pics for a review. Will try again soon.

I can't rem our local price. Think it's a little higher - but still a great bargain. So easy. And really tasty. I was glad I found these. I do lots of real potatoes, but I keep these on hand for busy days.

If you do a whole pack like in the pic, then use a pan under or they are hard to handle. I have an old cookie sheet (buy one at Good Will etc so it won't be a prob for the pan to get black). Be sure to use some butter to keep them from sticking.

The best meal to make with hashbrowns is a egg, hashbrown burrito. My boyfriend mixes it with this great BBQ seasoning and then cooks the hashbrowns so it's crunchy and then adds eggs and sometimes bacon. Oh my gosh it's delicious.

These are the best and so affordable. $.99 a bag at my grocery store.

My wife and I have these often, but we hadn't thought about using them as a side dish for cook-outs. Great idea!
