Similac Neosure Infant Formula —

We began using Similac NeoSure because our son was born prematurely at 29 weeks due to my having severe eclampsia.  The Similac NeoSure has helped our 2lb 7oz. baby boy grow into a very healthy 17lbs at 7 months old.  He is very alert and doing very well considering his prematurity.  He has no issues with vision, physical ability, or respiration. At his physical therapy appointment, he rated in the eighty third percentile for his "adjusted age". (That is the age he would be if born at term). Also, this formula is very sensitive to the immature digestive tract so our son has had no trouble with colic or spitting up. I contribute his success to the nutrients and extra calories that Similac NeoSure includes in their formual specifically for babies born prematurily.  Our son is doing well and will continue to use the Similac Neosure until he is one years of age and will switch to cow's milk.  We are thankful that such products are made for premature infants and that our son will be on track just as if he were born full term.

In response to JanyceMaggett's comment from Aug 10, 2009 at 10:37PM:

Janyce, We went to occupational therapy when he was 6 mo. to see if he had any issues with his motor skills and physical development. We will go when he is 1, probably in Sept. to check his motor skills again and also have a speech therapy visit to check and see if he seems to have any issues with speech. I am VERY fortunate that we have military insurance and they cover these things 100%. His pediatrician referred us to the specialist for these appointments. He also had our son see the eye doctor at 6mo. to check his vision. He was in the incubator for 8 weeks and long term oxygen use can cause blindness. We're covering all of our bases. I'm thankful that he is so healthy. Thanks for asking :) Misty
