Similac Alimentum Hypoallergenic Formula Review Summary

According to our reviewing parents, Similac Alimentum Hypoallergenic Infant Formula “provides infant comfort fast” for babies with sensitivities to milk. One mom recalls “We tried soy, organic and sensitive formula and nothing worked like the Alimentum did.” Similac Alimentum is by far one of the most expensive baby formulas available but even our cash strapped moms agree that it is worth every penny for the results they received. Parents report calmer, happier babies almost immediately after changing to Similac Alimentum. It smells horrible, costs an arm and a leg… but it works, which is what matters most in the long run. In the words of one mom “when nothing else worked for my baby, [Alimentum] did.” Is Alimentum right for your baby? Talk with your pediatrician first, but reviewers who had tried numerous baby formulas for their colicky baby recommend trying Similac Alimentum. Compare Similac Alimentum to Enfamil Nutramigen, another hypoallergenic baby formula.

After exclusively breast-feeding, I started my 4 month old on solid foods to help slow down my extreme weight loss and discovered he was allergic to formula--he instantly developed a facial rash! I tried the "gentlease" partially digested protein formulas, lactose-free, and even soy formula, and he still... review »

One of my twin daughters constantly spits up. Her Pediatrician switched us from formula to formula to formula and finally switched us to this. We have come to the conclusion that she is going to spit up no matter what. It didn't stop her gas problems and it seemed like she was hungry right after she...

My son started going through some very bad tummy issues at 3 weeks of age. I was sure it was colic. I took him to the doctor ( after dealing with days of crying for 8 hours straight), and our pediatrician recommended Similac Alimentum. It has worked wonders!!! My little guy no longer has tummy troubles, and is just a happy baby! The down side to the formula is that it is very pricey, and it smells terrible! Really, baby's breath will be BAD if you use this product! I've looked for Alimentum online, and you can buy it on e-bay much cheaper than you could paying retail. I would also recommend signing...

My daughter BreeAnna was original only Similac Advance when she was first born. After being home a month we noticed that BreeAnna was crying allot and didnt want to sleep. We also noticed that she had a loose stool. We took her to the dr who stated that she had an allergy to the cow's milk that was in the formula.

The doctor said that we should switch her to Similac Alimentum. The doctor stated that we would that BreeAnna would stop crying, sleep through the night and not have a loose stool almost immediately. I of course was very skeptical. I brought a can that day and sure enough BreeAnna...

I have three boys. My youngest has reflux and was colicy and very fussy. He constantly spit up massive amounts of formula. When my doctor prescribed this formula it was like a miracle had been preformed. My son started sleeping through the night, the spitting up turned into normal levels and the constant crying stopped. I love this formula.

After breastfeeding for 4 months, we made the choice to switch my daughter to formula. We started with Similac Sensitive. Why? Because they'd sent us a free sample can and I wasn't about to go out and pay $20 for something that might or might not work for us. After three weeks, it was evidant this was not working out. To be honest, it was a lot sooner then three weeks that we figured it out, but our Dr advised us to give it three weeks to see if our daughters tummy would adjust. With no luck, we were giving the news that it appeared she had a milk protein allergy. Our Dr said we could either go...

After watching my son continuously throw up his reglar Similac Advanced formula at every feeding, I knew something was wrong. Whne I took him to the pediatrician we learned we had acid reflux, which I never would have thought could happen to a baby. Along with medication, Dr. Ramos put Aiden on Similac Alimentum to help make sure the formula stayed down. What a differnce! Withing 3 days the throwing p had nearly disappeared and Aiden wasn't nearly as gassy and cranky as he'd been before switching formula. Alimentum is significantly more expensive than regular formula, almost twice as much, but...

My son was born in 2003 8lbs-9oz.  I opted not to breast feed although I now wish I had.  He seemed fine in the hospital.  He was a C-section baby and we left the hospital four days later.  He was on the regular similac formula.  After two days of having him home, I noticed that a few minutes after every feeding,  he would draw his legs up and cry.  He would then have a bowel movement.  We took him to the pediatrician and they changed his formula to one for sensitive stomachs (another similac formula but I don't remember the name).  After being on this for about two and a half weeks,... review »

My son was diagnosed with GERD and they put him on this formula.  I must say that it done somewhat ok for about a month or so and now we are right back to the spitting up routine again.  For the cost of $30.00 a small can I think he done just as well on the regular similac formula.

My son who is 1 month now has been on 4 formulas since birth. First similac advantage, the their soy one, the enfamil gentlease now the doctor put him on similac alimentum. My son starting having bad gas all the time once we brought him home from the hospital. He did the worse on the soy formula then any of the other ones. He wasn't sleep well at all, he just cried in pain  all the time cause of the bad gas and his skin was so dry. I couldn't get him to eat but an 1 to 1 1/2oz of formula every 2 hours. He just didnt want it cause it hurt his little tummy so much. The doctor put him on alimentum...

I cannot speak highly enough of Similac Alimentum!!  When my second son was born in 2008 we tried everything.  He was spitting up constantly, we would literally go through 8-10 outfits a day.  He always seemed uncomfortable, didn't want the bottle and like I said always spitting up.  We switched to a few different formulas and even tried soy.  Nothing seemed to work.  We ended up seeing a pediatric gastroentronologist who suggested Similac Alimentum.  Within a day he stopped spitting up.  We were shocked, how come our doctor never recommended it?  It is on the expensive side, but absolutely...

This Similac Alimentum formula works great if your child is or might be lactose intolerance as my son.  His tummy wouldn't tolerate any of the normal formulas that they went through at the hospital until they decided to try the Alimentum as one of the last resorts.  I have never had any issues with him vomiting or loose stools and he received the nutrition he needed while still keeping it down.  He seemed to really like it and it was a smooth transition to soy milk since the consistency is about the same.

The only two drawback that this is by far one of the most expensive formulas out there. ...

For weeks my son was completely unhappy unless he was sleeping. It was so upsetting to me since my other two children were so happy and easy going. When I was six weeks old I returned to work and my huband had left for 2 weeks of training. After 3 days of him crying almost all day I needed answers to his unhappiness or I was surely going to fall apart. We then met with the doctor and discussed all his symptoms and she suggested we try Similiac Alimentum. The change in him was almost immediate. Everyone around noticed the difference in him. He was smiling and happy just sitting in his bouncy or...

When our twins were born, the were first breast fed then they were put on a special formula called Alamentum. Alamentum is made by Similac. This formula comes in both a powder and liquid form. You can recognize the formula because it has a teddy bear holding a purple blanket. This formula is easily digested for babies who suffer from having  lactose intolerance. Alamentum is a little on the expensive side. If it weren'tfor WIC helping to pay for the formul, having twins on it would run an average of $ 200 a month.

Alamentum has all of the nutrients a baby needs such as iron. Alamentum can b found...
