After breastfeeding for 4 months, we made the choice to switch my daughter to formula. We started with Similac Sensitive. Why? Because they'd sent us a free sample can and I wasn't about to go out and pay $20 for something that might or might not work for us. After three weeks, it was evidant this was not working out. To be honest, it was a lot sooner then three weeks that we figured it out, but our Dr advised us to give it three weeks to see if our daughters tummy would adjust. With no luck, we were giving the news that it appeared she had a milk protein allergy. Our Dr said we could either go with Similac Alimentum, or Enfamil Nutramigen. Both coming it at $25 a can, we decided it would be best to go with the Alimentum and stay in the Similac family since that's what'd she been on the past three weeks. Almost immediately, my daughter spit up 75% less, was WAY less fussy and enjoyed her feedings much more. We don't qualify for WIC so it was a rough time for us when she was going through 2 cans a week, but as she slowly ate more baby food and then solid food, it became more manageable.
Was the product worth the money? In my opinion, yes, simply because it worked for my daughter. Is it right for everyone? No. It did, in fact, smell awful and make the things that came out of my daughter smell awful as well, but it worked for her so we survived.
