Similac Alimentum Hypoallergenic Formula —
My son was born in 2003 8lbs-9oz. I opted not to breast feed although I now wish I had. He seemed fine in the hospital. He was a C-section baby and we left the hospital four days later. He was on the regular similac formula. After two days of having him home, I noticed that a few minutes after every feeding, he would draw his legs up and cry. He would then have a bowel movement. We took him to the pediatrician and they changed his formula to one for sensitive stomachs (another similac formula but I don't remember the name). After being on this for about two and a half weeks, he wasn't getting better. He started to have blood in his stool. We rushed him to the pediatrician and they put him on Similac Allimentum. This worked fine for him. The crying after each feeding and the blood in the stool stopped. We bought the ready to feed formula for him and it was very expensive. By the time he was six months he was going through a container a day. If I had to do it over again I would breast feed. Not all mothers have the option to breastfeed but please due research as soon as possible if your child is not taking to regular formula. My son has now developed lactose intolerance but the allimentum was the best answer based on what we knew then.Last edited on Jan 16, 2009
