Most HelpfulWhen I left the hospital two days after giving birth to my son, I was not producing enough milk to satisfy him and he needed formula to supplement his feedings. The hospital gave me Enfamil to take home and my son didn't react very well to it. It made him gassy, he spit up a lot and he was constipated. ...

Most HelpfulWhen I found out I could no longer nurse my daughter, I had two decisions to make:
1. What kind of bottles?
2. What type of formula will she take?
While I knew the two would take forever to get straight, I also knew my daughter was hungry twenty four hours a day! With so many choices on the market, organics, soy, formulas safe for lactose intolerance, synthetics, several major formula brands and a half a million generics, where was a mother to begin? Well, first I consulted my pediatrician...
Traditionally pediatricians recommend starting with a well balanced iron enriched formula. However, I was... read full review »We all know that "breast milk is best" but I found that there were one or two formulas (I have 4 children) that worked well with each of my children. One of those formula's of choice is Similac Advance Infant Formula with Iron, a powdered product that contains DHA and ARA- special ingredients that are also found in breast milk, and important for the growth and intellect of your baby.
Fast Facts about Similac Advance Infant Formula with Iron
This formula is available in ready to feed, concentrated and powdered formula. I normally purchased the canister/powdered version.
I bought this after my son got bad gas from Enfamil, and he got so consitpated he didnt have a bowel movement for a week in a half we ended up having to give him an enema :(. after we switched to a different brand of formula I had given the rest of the Similac cans to a friend of mine and the same thing happened to her daughter. I would never use this formula again I dont ever want to put any of my kids through that.
The plus side to this product is they sent you all sorts of coupons and free stuff, but thats the only thing i can think of as positive.
This is our third baby, and our first time using formula. Similac Advance is working well for us in the transition period.
Our two older children were breastfed exclusively through 13-15 months, when they weened to organic whole milk in a cup on their own. I never thought I would use formula, -- ever! But our current baby is now a biter! He already has 8 teeth and is cutting more molars now. He is 11 months old, still nurses at night for comfort and in the early-morning for a big meal, but for the past few weeks we have tried using different formulas in a cup during the day instead of...

MY YOUNGEST CHILD IS THE ONLY CHILD I HAVE USED THIS FORMULA ON. IT SEEMED LIKE THE OLDER SHE GOT, THE MORE HYPER SHE GOT. WHEN I DID A RESEARCH ON THE FORMULA IT HAS ALOT OF SUGAR IN IT. WHEN I FOUND THAT OUT I IMMEDIATELY SWITCHED MY DAUGHTER OFF OF IT.I WOULD NOT RECOMMENDTHIS FORMULA TO ANYONE.THE POWDER IS THE WORST BEACUSE IT SEEMED LIKE THE MORE YOU STIRRED IT,THE MOREI GOT THICKER IT SEEMED LIKE YOU COULD NEVER GET THE LUMPS OUT OF IT ,WHICH MEAN MY CHILD WASN'T...
read full review »I live with a two month old infant and since she was brought home from the hospital, my family has been using the same formula for the baby. The Similac Advance Infant Formula is a great product. It has DHA and ARA which are nutrients found in breast milk and it has added iron to help with development. The formula is in powder form and all you have to do is add one scoop of formula to 2 ounces of water. We use bottled water, but you could use tap water as well. We have two other children living in the house who have not been on formula for quite some time, so we have used other types...
read full review »I had to supplement breastfeeding with formula from the beginning and was unable to continue breastfeeding at all after four months. We started with Similac Advance in the hospital and decided to continue with it. My son never had a problem with this formula.
I also like that it comes in different sizes and forms. I usually used the large can of powder at home and kept smaller cans of powder at my parent's and in-laws. The 2 and 8 ounce ready-made bottles are perfect for nighttime feedings or to put in the diaper bag for on-the-go meals. Especially after they made their 8 ounce ready made...
read full review »while being a mother of two i have selected similac advanced with iron powder as their formula for the first years of their lives. it worked great in providing the right nutrients and iron. The powder is so easy to use. it is conveinent and you can take it with you in the can or container. I was able to find small pouches that were enough to make 8oz bottles, they were little carry on pouches. very conveinent. also it lasts longer rather than the premade formula, in which has to stay refrigerated and it is allowed so many days., Also, the premade ilquid formula is more exspensive aswell.
