Shrek is one of the best all-round family films. I say it's a family film for several reasons, the main reason because kids of all ages will love this film. My daughter, who is almost three years old, loves and adores Shrek. This is the first movie in a series that is a must see for everyone....

Funny movie, but not for kids!

Shrek is no doubt a fun film, but it really should have had a PG-13 rating. I have a problem when a movie is full of penis and sex jokes and aimed at kids. I actually have a hard time watching it because I keep thinking, "Wow, that was funny! But how on earth could they market this as a movie for kids?"...

This is the greatest movie. SO funny, we all laughed our buts off!!!! Kids learn a valueable lession on not judging people on how they look. Even and oger can be princess!!!

I enjoyed this movie as a comedy. It's not just a childern's movie it is a family movie. It has a cute lovable donkey. A twist to a fairy tale. The beautiful princess and a evil prince soon to be king that is careless and selfish. It connects to unlikely chracters and makes them into good friends.

The Case

With the new Shrek movie hitting theaters, I felt the need to pull the original tale of my favorite, green-skinned ogre from the shelf. Rewatching it, I can't help being just as delighted with it now as when I saw it the first time!

The Good

I don't know too many people who haven't had the enjoyment of seeing Shrek, but for those few out there, let me expound for a moment. It's HI-larious!!! LOVE IT!

With a family full of kids, you have to pick lots of animated movies to watch all the time. You also hope that the ones your kids like are good! Well, we viewed Shrek several years ago and we are still watching it today! This is one movie that my kids love to pick out to watch in our van on long trips and it's one I enjoy listening to as I drive or ride in the passenger seat.

You have some very famous actors playing the characters, Cameron Diaz and Eddie Murphy just to name two. The over all story is you have a princess locked up in a tower, an evil lord wants to marry her to become a king, and... review »

shrek; a great movie, it doesnt seem animated its that good

i loved this movie Shrek, even as an adult. the animation is amazing and after watching you forget its a cartoon. the actors played their roles better than expected. you can tell who the actor is by their voice but still they played the part perfectly. the meaning is cute and if you have kids there are jokes that you will get as a parent, thus having you enjoy watching a kids movie and enjoying it as well. the movie sends many messages and i feel that kids will relate to it and will learn that beauty is within

The movies Shrek is one of the greatest kids movies. This movie is good for children but it also has some humor in it for the parents. Insted of the same kind of kids movies that have been arround they took it a different direction and made it reach out to kids of all ages. I truly enjoy and own all three of the Shrek movies. I hope to see another one showing how Shrek and Fiona deal with being parents.

shrek is a great family film. it's cute and also throws in some adult humor. but yet a good movie for children to watch too!! i can sit and watch all of them over and over again. the charators seem to ctach the childrens attention... when we have nothing to do in my home we will put in shrek and watch it as a family..

I LOVE this movie! It has the animation a child as well as an adult can enjoy and the dialogue is awesome! The dynamics of Mike Myers and Eddie Murphy is priceless! My husband grows old of the movie, but I can always watch it when I'm looking for something funny and uplifting!

This movie ROCKED!

Shreki s a great movie. Some people said that it was a little bit over the top when it came to a children's movie. There were some parts of the movie that children didn't understand or possible "get the meaning of" but the adults understood and it wasn't racy at all. I just remember laughing my butt off right along with my family and them loving it, still to this day. My daughter will still wactch it, and if she hears a song that was from the movie on the radio, she will say, "Hey that's from Shrek." So naturally when the second and third parts came out, we just had to get them and watch them.... review »

This is for all Shrek movies: 1, 2, 3, and the newest X-mas one [which was originally a made-for-TV movie]. We have the DVDs of all of them, and have rewatched them a couple times. They are all family movies that I wouldn't hesitate to allow our newest niece to watch up through me [just getting ready to turn 60].

The review I read saying that it should have a PG-13 rating because of the language is ridiculous. The kids are going to be laughing at the characters too much to notice most of it; and any self-respecting parent knows how to work through the questions [depending on age as to the...
