Whether you're a busy DIYer or just the typical homeowner, this is one of those "must have" tools.

Throughout the year I'm usually engaged in one project or another around the house.  I'm not complaining mind you;  I get a lot of satisfaction from my DIY projects.  But I'd be lying if I said I look forward to clean-up.  Nope, that's just not me.

And, as much as the lovely Mrs. Xeno appreciates the fruits of my labor, coming home to a mid-project mess plays to none of her strengths.  It wasn't too hard to convince her that we needed a Shop Vac Wet/Dry Vacuum.

Shop Vac Wet/Dry Vacuum 930-06-11

As the name suggests, this is a vacuum suitable for wet or dry conditions.  It has a 6 gallon capacity and is powered by a 3HP motor.  Accessories include three extension wands, a 7' plastic hose, a 10" general purpose head as well as a crevice tool and brush.  This is a cannister model that rolls on three casters.

Unlike your household vacuum, this is built to take abuse.  It easily sucks up irregular sized items, nails, glass, etc.  All the kinds of things that would wreck a costly house vacuum.

Use it Dry, Use it Wet

Here at Casa Xeno we have a problematic bathroom downstairs.  Most of the time it works like ...well what a bathroom should work like.  But every great once in awhile, the toilet just decides to overflow when flushed.  It's been professionally snaked and it remains one of those mysteries of home ownership.

Nothing is going to make this clean-up pleasant, but the Shop Vac  Wet/Dry is just the tool you want in a situation like this.  With its 6 gallon capacity and powerful no nonsense suction it gets the situation under control quickly.

Periodically, our central air unit's condensation exhaust has become clogged by mold in the line.  Left in that condition it would start dripping into our garage.  The Shop Vac has been used several times to vacuum out the line of both water and debris.

Other Uses

By attaching the hose to the outlet air vent, the Shop Vac can be used as a light duty blower.  No, you can't clear your yard with it, but to remove light debris from our walkways and our screened lanai it's more than sufficient.

Shortcomings?

There's no getting around it.  This vacuum is loud.  The manufacturer's literature refers to it as quiet, but trust me here, we're talking loud.

This model also has a short (7 foot) power cord.  Plan on using a grounded extension cord with it.

My Viewpoint

The Shop Vac Wet/Dry Vacuum 930-06-11 is a tool that any homeowner would be wise to have on hand.  At $40 or less at most hardware stores, it's a low-cost vacuum that pays off big.
