Sherri Shepherd (The View, Less Than Perfect) is Intellectually Challenged (stupid); no apologies it had to be said. Spend a week with the buxom nitwit on the View and you will not doubt come away with the same impression. To be fair she has her light bulb moments, but they the exception, not the rule; the woman just doesn't generate a lot of intellectual wattage! Need proof, read on:
Shepherd stated on the September 18, 2007 broadcast of The View, that she didn't "believe in evolution. Period." When Co-host Whoopi Goldberg asked her, "Is the world flat?", Shepherd first responded, "...I don't know" and expanded that she "never thought about it." Shepherd went on to explain that it was more important to her that she thought about how she was "going to feed [her] child," at which point Barbara Walters pointing out that, "You can do both." However, Shepherd then went on to quote scripture (she is deeply religious). Ms. Shepherd later referred to her shockingly ignorant statements as a "brain fart" brought on by nerves, and said that she knows the earth is round. Sure she does...
Need more testimonials? On the December 4, 2007 broadcast of The View during a discussion about the Greek philosopher Epicurus, Shepherd asserted that Christians existed in classical Greece, and that the Greeks threw them to the lions. When confronted on this point, she further claimed that "Jesus came first" (before the Greek and Roman Empires) and stated, "I don't think anything predated Christians."
Shepherd also admitted to never voting because she just "never knew the dates or anything"; she stated, "I've never voted for anything in my life." And she also has stated that, "I was sleeping with a lot of guys and had more abortions than I would like to count."
This brings me back to me opening statement; that is Sherri Shepherd is, well stupid! So you have to wonder how someone with such a limited grasp on life and how it works could have enjoyed so much professional success, the latest of which is her new 30-miunte sitcom on Lifetime Television, Sherri (it's not just a comedy...it's her life! the promotional tagline promises.)
My Viewpoint
Initially I had no intentions of watching Sherri, yet another situation comedy in which black people act as stereotypical caricatures of themselves. We have had far too many show of that ilk on Fox and The CW so I was not chaffing at the bit to watch yet another.
But my wife and I decided to watch at least an episode to see if Sherri would be back for a repeat performance; she won't. Sherri is a bore and it lacked humor, something I thought was an essential ingredient for a sitcom. Neither I nor Mrs. Bard laughed the entire time the show was on and several times we looked at each other saying silently with our eyes and expressions: "is this it?" I'm afraid it is and was. Most of the banter was about sex, which in and of itself is far from boring, but here it didn't work! The context in which it was bantered about was, well, stupid, and felt forced. And again, not funny!
Needless to say, or state, we will not be revisiting Sherri's mind or her misguided, boring, and so not funny show anytime soon. Who said you had to be educated in order to make it in America? No doubt intellectually challenged Sherri Shepherd would beg to differ!
