Pick a different place to stay!
My 18 YO daughter and I decided to take a mother-daughter trip last summer. We wanted to go somewhere neither of us had been before and finally settled on San Diego. When we began looking at where to stay we saw the beautiful pictures and found out that we were able to get what we thought would be a great room on the club floor for a steal. We couldn't have been more wrong and disappointed.
In one of the descriptions we read that the hotel had a free hotel shuttle within 5 miles of the hotel. When we inquired about this we were offered a rental car for the day at a reduced rate. And by the way, if we wanted to keep it we would have to pay $26 to park it overnight. We really didn't want a rental car but felt we had no choice and reluctantly did it for that first day. We weren't told that one of the trolley's would pick us up and had stops at several of the tourist hot spots we'd planned on visiting. The concierge never told us about this trolley and that's their job. We even specifically asked about trolleys and the nearest pick-up locations. We found out on our last day there that the one of the trolley lines DID pick up at our hotel, but we didn't find out until we saw some other guests getting dropped off the evening of our last day there.
The first morning my daughter and I both took a shower and discovered that our shower drain wasn't working properly. On our way out for the day I stopped at the front desk and explained our problem. When we came back the water was gone and we thought it was fixed. We left for dinner and when we got back we found 4 inches of this nasty looking water in the tub. I immediately went to the front desk. The front desk clerk offered to "comp" my parking. I didn't have a car so that didn't work. She offered us free breakfast which we didn't need because that was already part of the club floor price. She asked if I wanted to move rooms. I said I would IFwe could have another room on the club floor because we did have a gorgeous view of the USS Midway, Coronado Island, and the Pacific ocean. She then told me she couldn't move us because the hotel was full. Why give that as an option then. Finally, after 20 minutes she offered a 50% discount on my room for that night. I agreed and watched her enter everything into the computer so I assumed I'd have no problem at check-out with that. Well, you guessed it. When I reviewed my bill upon check out I learned that the discount wasn't applied and when I inquired about it I was told that it wasn't in their computer. Fortunately, I was smart enough to get the issuing clerks name and had the date and time of our conversation and it eventually got fixed. I don't feel that I should have had to get this taken care of AGAIN.
The restaurant in the hotel was WAY overpriced, I felt. To save some money we'd opted not to get a car thinking that there would be alot within walking distance to choose from. We were wrong. The only good about this hotel is the view. We were on the 11th floor and have some very nice pictures of the evening skyline. When I go back to San Diego, I absolutely WON'T BE STAYING HERE.
