The Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers proved to be a great place to stay while in the city for the weekend.
The Hotel
The Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers - Chicago, IL is a hotel towering over the city of Chicago. It is in a prime location and many of Chicago's hot spots are within a reasonable walking distance (provided you have good directions.)
The lobby is huge! It has a store, a coffee shop, a restaurant, plenty of open seating with a view of the water, and more. It is beautiful and spacious.
The room I stayed in was rather small, but it was neat, clean and comfortable. The room had cable TV, video games and WiFi. The bed was extremely comfortable and I got a great night's sleep after all the walking I did.
While a coffee pot and the brewing essentials are available in the rooms, there are also bottled waters with a tag that says they will charge your room $6.95 if they are opened! You can bet that the two water bottles remained untouched when I checked out.
My Experience
This was my first trip by myself. I drove the five hours from the Detroit area and then got lost maneuvering between the crazy Chicago streets. Upon locating the hotel, I was greeted by a friendly man who checked my car (for a mere $41...yikes!) I proceeded to the check-in counter and within seconds I was allotted a room key and directions to the elevators. Up, up and away I went to the 25th floor.
I was pleased with my room and enjoyed the view of the city, as well as the water down below. I had little time to get settled in before setting out on foot and going in circles for approximately 45 minutes.
I returned to the hotel (after getting turned about again and having to ask for directions several times.) I checked out all of the literature in the room and quickly fell asleep in the roomy, comfortable bed. I felt so snuggly, I didn't want to get up in the morning.
I checked out from the TV in my room, which couldn't be any easier. I checked my bags in the lobby and asked the concierge for directions to local attractions. She was a great help and not only gave me a map and a book of the attractions, she also gave me printed walking directions so there was no way I could get lost again.
From there I hit the cafe for my daily shot of Starbuck's and enjoyed it in the lobby while watching boats pass by outside. I stopped in the gift shop, which was really cute and had both practical and gift items.
After a day of visiting attractions, I made my way back to the hotel, unchecked my bags, went to the garage and unchecked my car and was ready to head home.
My experience at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers - Chicago, IL was great and I would recommend it to anyone staying overnight in the Chicago area.
