Shelter Insurance — 

I have to say that I am less than pleased with Shelter Insurance Company. There are several agents in my local area; however, when going through the phonebook and attempting to call one not a single one will answer.  Now, this is not at an abnormal time for businesses to be open, I'm talking at 2 in the afternoon! So, I decided to go in person to see if I could speak to one. And what do you know, they closed early, at 3:30, to go vote. Now who needs to close two hours early to vote? The polls don't close until 7p.m. What's the deal? On top of that I have had three agents that have just up and quit over the past few year. No letter, phone call, nothing.  Just me going to get something changed one day and finding out that they are no longer open for business and have shuffled me off to someone else. So, I'm wondering is Shelter really that bad of a company to work for? On to other topics. I moved and personally called the 800 number and went to the agents office to make the address change. But, upon the time for my renewal I find that it still wasn't changed! My mailing address was changed but they still had the address of my insured property incorrect. What the heck is the deal? If something were to have happened I'm sure it would have been my fault the address wasn't changed and they'd have denied my claim. Now I want everything with one agent instead of two, because remember I said they just randomly moved my accounts to other people. Well the agent told me to call the 800 number to tell them I wanted both the cars and the house in one place. Yet, when I call the 800 number they tell me I have to call the agent. The 800 number is essentially just a message center for the agent and will relay all information to him. So, what's the point in having the 800 center if they can't make any policy changes? The names on my account have been changed. Somewhere name mistakes were made.  One name has been completely removed off the house. One name was removed from one of my cars. Then middle names were changed, which wouldn't be a big deal if others in the same city didn't have the same first and last name.
