Huge TV, good perfvormance, no reason to buy another one

This is my third Sharp TV set - with the same quality as Sony, it costs a bit less( no cheap, but who wants cheap!). i have two another 42 sets - which work perfectly for many years, so when the time came to buy bigger TV, i bought anothe SHARP. it was 3 years ago; since then - no problem, it works good - except that those days there is no user-friendly search engine for shows - but it is not Sharp to blame, those are TV providers not taking steps. honestly - i think, that consumers do not need bigger screens, more megapixels - the one we have are perfect( the same as consumer do not need 300+ hp cars - this race is going nowhere), we need friendly interface to browse shows - as very ofter i can not find anything to watch, and frustrated, turn it off; if i have DVD i want to watch - things are better. I am happy with this TV, no plans to buy another one - and i am sure - this one won't brake( maybe subconsciously i even want it break, it will give me a chance to buy newer TV, one of those internet TV's) - but for now I am with Sharp TV and really appreciate quality and durability. The only thing - sound. Whatever incorporated in TVset is a disappointment; I always buy TV with a sound bar. wor Picture Quality Depends from the programs, of course, but if you watch guud quality DVD - picture quality is amazing) Sound Quality Sound is not good - you need a sound bar!

Clearer picture on this TV than in actual life!

This has changed our TV viewing habits. We were channel surfers, rarely finding anything on TV that we actually enjoyed watching. Now we are truly amazed at the picture that the Sharp Aquos offers. The fine detail is so amazing; you see things on the screen that you would actually miss if you were standing 3 feet from the person or animals on-screen. I now see why the actors were having a fit when HD first came out - now they all need face lifts and such. Too funny.

Like being at a movie theatre

Did a lot of online research before purchasing the product.  The one negative most reviews did not highlight is the fact that with such a large screen, the picture is better from farther back (i.e. works better in bigger rooms).  With some sporting events and shows filmed with handheld, the resolution is disappointing, but with the HD tv channels, and many of the movie channels, the resolution is mindblowing - watching Batman Returns was like seeing it at the theatre.

Worth it!

This t.v. is worth every penny. My husband and I did research for about two weeks before splurging on this item. Although you can find much cheaper comparable t.v.'s, you will get what you pay for. Most of the cheaper versions will last for about 2 years. This t.v. is rated to last ten. One very cool feature is that when the lighting changes in your room, then the t.v. automatically adjusts so that the picture is viewed at it's best. It seems kind of confusing as to what's going on at first, but now after having the t.v. for 6 months we don't even notice. I tink that you could turn that feature off, but we leave it on and rarely have sun glare. I love that feature and it makes all the difference. This t.v. is very user friendly and was a set up by my 12 year old son in less than 10 minutes. It even found me more digital channels than I knew we had. Our Sharp Aquos is on a stand and at 52in. I was a little concerned with it tipping. We have 3 kids and I raise boxer puppies so there is a lot of activity and bouncing going on at my house and we have not had any issues with that. There is only one thing that I think could have been improved on this t.v. and that is the volume level. It is not as loud as I would like (being the mother of three boys), but with surround sound it wouldn't be a problem. I guess I'm seeing a reason to go shopping!

I had a 52' Sharp Aquos and it is one of the better TVs

The Sharp Aquos 52" LCD HDTV is one of the better HDTVs on the market. However, it does not come close to the Sony Bravia XBR 52" LCD HDTV. I had the Sharp for awhile because the new Bravia had not been realeased as yet. Once available, I sold the Sharp to a friend who is not nearly as critical about picture quality as I am. I immediately bought the Sony Bravia XBR. All buyers should beware that even Sony has different quality levels in their 52" HDTVs, as does Sharp. research your selection thoroughly before you make your choice. There is no substitute for the best.

Awesome Picture

We purchased this TV about 1 year ago and have been very happy with it since. Great picture and no problems with motion. Only slight problem is when the picture we are watching goes from a dark to light the picture does take a few seconds to adjust. Also when the program we are watching is dark, the screen is very dark and hard to see. The 1080 is awesome and we are sooo happy with the TV.

More features than I ever expected

The picture quality was the first thing to catch my eye for this TV.  The ease of use was a huge bonus.  I was surprised how easy it was to set up and use.  I plugged in my cable and it automatically found all of the chanels.  It even found all of the local **digital** chanels that I did not even know were available.  The on-screen menus are easy to use and the instruction manual was well written. I was able to hook up my PC and now have a 52 inch monitor.  I love this feature for showing pictures and since my PC is also my PVR ( PC based tivo ).  My brother and a co-worker saw the TV and each bought them too.
