Shappu 2000 Cutlery is flimsy and weak
We recieved the Shappu 2000 10pc Professional Cutlery Set for a wedding present. It looks like a really nice set with 6 steak knives, a utility knife, a fillet knife, a paring knife, and a Cleaver. It is supposed to be Japanese Stainless Steel and it comes with a lifetime garantee that they will never need sharpening. However, the knives are very thin and are more likely to get bent before they would need sharpening. We have been using these knives for more than 2 years. Most of the cutting we do with these knives is cutting a loaf of homemade bread and none of these knives is long enough to cut through a normal size loaf of bread. The blades are very pliable and easily bent out of shape, thus making any further cutting more difficult. The box advertises that you can saw through aluminum and PVC pipes. So you wouldn't expect the knife to break while sawing through somewhat frozen sausage, which is what happened to one of our knives. The blade broke off where it meets the handle. This product is not worth your time and money at even a low price. It has been more hassle than help. I would not recommend this product to anyone.
