This hotel is a great value. Rate quotes for single hotel rooms in downtown Pittsburgh were running $40 more than an entire two-bedroom suite here, complete with living room and small kitchen. The suite was the same size as my apartment back home, and these suites actually can be rented on a weekly or monthly basis, as welll as overnight. My entire family could share it and stll have private rooms for sleeping for much less than the cost of a single motel room, where my teenagers would have ending up sleeping on the floor in my room (to save money).
The hotel is located in the ShadySide area of Pittsburgh, about a mile and a half from the city center -- close enough to walk for someone who likes walking. It is quiet at night and two blocks from the up-scale shopping area of Walnut Street.
My suite was very well-furnished and clean. The staff was efficient and friendly. In addition, the parking is free (which is unusual for downtown Pittsburgh hotels).
The only bad thing was that we arrived on a very warm day (near 70 degrees -- in November) but the nights were cold. When we first arrived, we didn't realize that someone had opened the windows and left them open. As it got later and colder and we shut the windows, we looked for a thermostat. But the heat is not set in the individual suites. They all use a common boiler, which does not switch on until it reaches a certain temperature outside. So until the heat finally kicked on, it was a little cold in the room. However, the staff provided extra blankets, so it wasn't too bad.
I definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for a less expensive alternative to the prices of hotels in Pittsburgh.
