Shades of Green is a resort hotel in Orlando, Florida owned by the military. As such, you must be active duty military, retired from the service with certain caveats, and some DoD personnel are allowed there. The rates are great because they are based on pay grade. They also arrange transporation to other attractions. They run all the time from open to close, and since the shuttle only stops at Shades of Green, they are not nearly as crowded as the other shuttles for the Disney properties. They've got a pool, a kiddie pool, and a big hot tub. They have a buffet restaurant on the bottom floor. It's good, not great but the price is right if you're bringing a big family. You can get discount tickets for the attractions there, and the sundries store is a PX Shoppette, so no tax and they take the Military Star card. I loved it, and we are retired now and still qualify. When I go to Orlando, it's going to be Shades of Green for me!
