Sex and The City - The Movie —

This movie is everything that was terrific about the series.  I was a faithful watcher of Sex & The City when it was on HBO.  It was always so fun getting lost in the glamour, style, romance, and most of all, the friendships for an hour each week.  I was very sad when it was all over.

You can imagine how thrilled I was to hear the movie was coming out!   However, I became discouraged after reading some of the not so great reviews.  Now, after seeing the movie myself, I don't know what the negativity was all about!  I LOVED THIS MOVIE!  I thought they did an excellent job catching us up on each individual woman, as well as bringing home the bond between the women as a group.  The closeness that these women share are what makes the show so very special.

Honestly, I can't remember a movie that put me on such a rollercoaster of emotion.  I laughed, I cried, and my heart literally ached at parts in the movie.  Sarah Jessica Parker did an excellent job.  Her emotion was so real, so raw, that I felt what she was feeling.  I don't like to cry in movies usually, but this one was different. The storyline that surrounded Miranda's character was heartwrenching and something that so many women have been through.  You can really relate to the joy and pain that all the characters go through.

When I heard they were adding Jennifer Hudson to the cast, I was skeptical.  I didn't like the idea of them placing a stranger into the group of women that we have grown to love.  But her character is more directly involved with Carrie than the entire group, and I have to say that Jennifer Hudson did a great job as Carrie's assistant, Louise.  Her character was young, fun, sassy, and she brought a lot to the table.  We've never really seen an African American woman in the show, or a plus sized women either, for that matter.  I really liked what her character brought to the show.

Chris Noth was great, as usual.  I've always enjoyed his character, Big.  He & Carrie have a great chemistry onscreen that's exciting to watch.  Charlotte's husband, Harry, is still around being the perfect husband.  And so is Steve, Miranda's husband.  They still struggle with alot of the same issues we've seen them deal with in the past.  And Samantha.......she's great and still as sexy & sassy as she's ever been, even though she's still in her relationship with Smith.

And the shoes!  And the clothes!  It's just so fun watching the women enjoy such a life of luxury.  Even if I am watching it from my small home, in my pajamas.  I get to live my life vicariously through them, and that's what it's always been about for me.

I saw it, now hope to own it. So I guess that means I really enjoyed it. I did have some of my complaints -- that some of the plot was really in keeping with the show, but it was still a lot of fun.
