Sex and The City - The Movie —

I thought the movie was entertaining. Believe me, I have seen a lot worse lately. However, it was not as witty as the series were. There were some problems with the script which I could not overlook, no matter how much I wanted to like the movie.

First of all, it was good to see the characters gain. I know this has been said before, but it was like seeing old friends again.

However, at times the characters acted in ways that did not quite seem like themselves. For example, Mr. Big (a veteran in getting married and divorced - twice before) freaking out like he did just because of what Miranda said to him. I thought that was pretty lame. Then, Miranda saying something like that to Mr. Big at the rehearsal dinner. That was so unlikely for Miranda. Her character has always been the more level-headed and no-nonsense of all the characters. But, above all, she always cared for her best friend, Carrie. No matter how upset she had been after speaking with Stevie, the true-to-form Miranda would have never said something like that to Big before their wedding.

Then, the fact that Big did not make a bigger effort to reach Carrie. He just kept sending her emails. What about finding her new telephone number? What about coming over to see her? If Big was so mortified by his stupid mistake, why didn't he make more of an effort to speak to Carrie and explain himself, instead of letting the movie go on for another 45 minutes of rejection pain?

Then, the confusing setup of the apartments, the introduction of Hudson's character (which was very underutilized - to the point that she did not even need to be in the movie - it made no real difference to have her there for the plot).

Lastly, the way that Carrie forgave Big so easily at the closet scene. One woman next to me actually shouted "NO" at the screen when Big proposed to Carrie.

In a sum, I enjoyed the first part of the movie up until the wedding, then the movie slipped and became too slow and predictable.

However, I still enjoyed it just because I could see my old friends again. Who knows, maybe they can still come back at a better written sequel
