Sex and The City - The Movie —

Oh Carrie, I've missed you and your friends!
Last night I got together my own little group of four to go see the girls.   We got dressed up, met for cocktails and appetizers and got a little giggly with anticipation of a reunion.  After all, it's been some time since we got to hang with Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte.  My friend Joyce said she was almost dreading the film, knowing that it would make her long for the show all over again.   I was just hopeful the writing would be good.

The fashion!  The drama!  The romance!
Joyce was right.  The minute the movie started, it was just "Oh, gosh, where have these girls BEEN?"  They are each so different, you're sure to relate more strongly to one of them over the others.   (From year to year, that girl may even change, which is interesting and could prompt some DVD rentals)   The storylines were GREAT, and totally believable (even if the oh-so-expensive lifestyles weren't!).   One scene in which Carrie is trying on fabulous dresses is just delicious, and what fun to see Big again.......

Girlfiends:  Good at any Age!
Each girl had her own drama going on, from marital woes to pregnancy fears, and dished up in great style.   It's just so darned fun watching the ways these friends interact.   And you even get to do a little introspective analysis during the movie....  Which wedding vows have the most significance?  What does marriage really provide?   Whose needs are being looked after in YOUR house?   Hmmmm....    By the way, BRAVA to the writers for giving us a beautiful, sexy 50-year-old.  It's about time!

I Laughed, I Cried
This film was a feel-good movie, with plenty of eye candy thanks to the boys, fun fashion, beautiful apartments, gorgeous scenery, titillating sexual components, and a few good old-fashioned tear-jerker parts.  Idol-turned-Broadway-phenom Jennifer Hudson appears in a surprise role, and I was thrilled to see her do a great job.   That girl's got it going on.   I left feeling nostalgic, happy, and a little tired.  It was all good for me.   Thanks, Carrie!   Thanks, Samantha!

The Bottom Line:  Libby Loves It!

In response to bkovacs's comment from Jun 6, 2008 at 11:24AM:

A couple of explosions..........of the female variety! LOL But the only car chase is one block long at slow speed. Sorry! It's definitely a chick flick, but a sweet guy will take his girl and appreciate getting to watch oversexed Samatha's shenanigans. She is a hoot!

I was never a big fan of SATC only because I never knew when it came on and only caught it now and then. Now, in reruns, I have caught up a lot and may even see the movie. I hear they left the door open for a sequel!

What's the deal? Is this a chick flick only? Or is there something for the guys? Any explosions or car chases?

Excellent review!
