Seventh Generation Free & Clear Laundry Powder is non-toxic, biodegradable, has no phosphates (Phosphates can cause algae blooms in lakes that can lead to plants and animals suffocating.) and has no petroleum based cleaners. It is not tested on animals.

I have the 48-ounce box of powder. At home I usually use the liquid detergent. For some reason I bought this. The company claims that this box will do 18 loads which seems to be a close enough estimate. I haven’t finished the box yet.

read full review »Seventh Generation Free & Clear Laundry Powder cleans well and doesn't irritate the skin. I have sensitive skin and have a hard time finding products that don't irritate me. This product also works well with my daughters skin who turns into a "red lobster" if any frangrances are in products. It is so much stuff in products now sometimes it is hard to pinpoint what your allergic to in a product. It is not a bundle of unidentifiable "stuff" in this. I feel at ease when I use this. Also it is not supper expensive like alot of environmentally friendly and specialty products out there. We shouldn't...
read full review »Though I think all of the "green" products are coming out with the exclusive high-end price tag, which is the biggest downside to the turning trend, I am willing to pay that little more knowing that I am helping to provide a better, healthier planet for my children, grand-children, great grandchildren, and so on.
Being on a tight budget does make that little extra a challenge, but hopefully products such as this will see that usage will increase if prices decrease to a reasonable norm.
