Good enough

I purchased this detergent because I am trying to be more green with my cleaning supplies. As much as I hate to admit it, I do not think it cleans as well as my "non-green" detergent. Especially getting sticky food like peanut butter off of plates and utensils I have found myself having to wash some things by hand when I take them out of the dishwasher, which I haven't had to do with my old dish washing detergent. Additionally, I sometimes have trouble pouring the soap into the washer becaues of the size of the spout, though it might be more the shape of my dishwasher's fault than the shape of the box. On the flip side, I feel so much better knowing that I am washing my family's dishes with soap that is so much more healthy for them. Especially my baby's bottles! So in my opinion, it is very much worth having to do an additional few rinses if it gives me piece of mind that our things are being cleaned safely.

Great cleaning job!

This product has been so great to me.  I have been on the search for a great cleaning agent for my not so good dishwasher and one that won't leave my plastic dishes feeling like they are dirtier then when I first put them in my dishwasher. I have four kids and can't afford the time to be hand washing my dishes but with all other soaps my dishes have a soap film on them.  And I can not be having my children eating and drinking bleach that is in other detergents.  So that is why I tried this.  First it does a super job at washing and it also does not leave a film on my dishes which makes me one happy momma!  I really like that it is good for our health and not too bad for the environment as well.   I do not like harsh cleaners at all so I am so glad that I bought some of this eco friendly dishwashing soap and that it worked so well. Just goes to show that eco friendly is just as good as the regular...or even better!

Not for Me

As much as I strive for all natural and organic products, these were not doing the trick for me.  I am a big lover of most 7th Generation products.  I got 2 boxes on clearance and was so excited, but it did not clean my loads as I would of liked.  We are a family of 5, and have lots of dirty dishes.  The only way it was effective was if I rinsed the dishes alot with hot water, which is also not very earth friendly and a waste of water.  I did go and buy my "toxic" name brand cubes, and used hese as back up, or as a "pre-rinse" with the other cubes.  Mostly for big loads.  I did however like the compact, box, and the cubes were easy to use and ideal.  I would reccomend this product for small families or maybe those with super awesome dishwashers.  Mine is a few years old, so maybe that was the reason.  I will however not buy these again, due to the cost, and they didnt work well for us.

didn't get things as clean as i hoped

well maybe i'm biased, but i just don't think seventh generation products work as well as  normal products, and this is no exception. they are much more expensive and, yes they are natural, but they don't do as good of a job at cleaning as the normal brands. For example, the dish soap. Personally, i don't think it cleans or scrubbs my dishes nearly as well as cascade. Also, i've noticed that some of my dishes, especailly my cups, have started to smell after a while of using this product. such a thing never happened to me with "normal" dish soap, and i don't think that it is worth the sacrifice just to use an "all natural" product. I will be definitely going back to my other, cheaper, less natural products, that really get the job done. if you are a natural junkie and need everything from whole foods/organic, then the sacrifices will probably be worth it to you. but for me, i'd rather stick with the normal stuff.

Leaves grittiness on dishes

2

I bought these because I had a great coupon and got them really cheap. Typically I don't buy seventh generation products because I am leary of eco friendly cleaning products. I was excited about trying this though as I have always wanted to try the concentrated packs. After using them I have found that they fit great in my dishwashing cleaner dispenser. The amount of detergent seems sufficient and they have a minimal smell to them. The negative is that they definitely leave a grittiness on my dishes. I typically have to either re clean or rinse of about 5 glasses from each load. Otherwise they seem to clean the dishes well. After the box is gone, I think I will not use this product again. I have just used too many other products that seem to work better. I will stick with my liquid dishwashing soap from now on and probably stay away from the eco friendly cleaning products. I am just not enough into the enviornment to have dirty dishes!!

These tabs clean the dishes, but that's not all they do!

I'm always trying to find products that are both eco-friendly *and *effective.  It seems like most eco-friendly cleaning products are decent, but missing something, and that also goes for **Seventh Generation Automatic Dishwasher Detergent Concentrated Pacs**.  Yes, it is eco-friendly, but it doesn't provide the same great results I'm used to with traditional dish-washing tabs. The great things about these dish-washing pacs are: - Chlorine-free - Phosphate-free - Biodegradable - Not tested on animals The **Seventh Generation Automatic Dishwasher Detergent Concentrated Pacs **look very similar to traditional dishwashing packs that contain a pre-measured amount of detergent in a clear, plastic wrap.  Just pop one in your dishwasher, and that's it.  One great thing I would like to note is that the box states that Seventh Generation donates 10% of their profits to "organizations working for positive change". **My Experience** After using half of the box, I have had similar results with each load of dishes: all of my silverware comes out clean and sparking, without very many spots at all.  My dishes on the bottom part of the dishwasher come out very clean, with no food left behind on the dishes.  My only problem is the top rack of dishes.  There is always a sandy, gritty type of material adhering to the tops of dishes on the top rack.  In some instances, I can just wipe it off, but sometimes the grit is inside of drinking glasses, so I have to re-wash them. This product is available is two types: Free & Clear or Lemon.  I bought Lemon and honestly can't even tell there is a lemon scent.  No lemon comes out of the dishwasher while washing, and I can't even smell lemon when I put the pack up to my nose. The back of the box actually says that "If every household in the U.S. replaced just one carton of 15 count concentrated pacs containing phosphates with our phosphate free product, we could save 14 million pounds of phosphates from entering our rivers, lakes and streams."  That is definitely something to think about. It's a bummer that this eco-friendly product wasn't totally effective.  If it didn't leave grit on my top rack of dishes, I would have given this product 5 stars.  As is, I feel good knowing that I am doing my part to buy earth-friendly products, so even though I have to re-wash a couple dishes from the top rack, I would still purchase this product.

Seventh Generation Dishwasher Detergent is earth friendly.

I discovered Seventh Generation products recently and they are now one of my favorite cleaning staples.  They are so easy to use and convenient.  I feel that they are safe to use and have grown to trust the Seventh Generation name for cleaning products I do enjoy using this dishwasher detergent when I can find it, but not all of the stores that have Seventh Generation carry this particular product.  It is very convenient to use and the scent is very light and clean.  I have also had a problem finding great deals on prices for this product, so it tends to be more expensive than conventional cleaners, which can sometimes be an issue.  My main criticism of this product is that I find it doesn't clean the toughest grime and I often find it is not 100% clean rinsing.  I recommend perhaps using it in conjunction with a rinse aid if that is concerning to you, but I am sure the residue is safe and it is easily rinsed off with water.

Does the job and protects the environment

Balancing my desire for a clean and sanitary home with my desire to protect the environment isn't always easy. Many environmentally-friendly products just don't get the job done. This is one that does. My dishes are sparkling, and they don't have that "dishwasher gel" smell. My only complaint is that the tabs are a little thick, so I have to push them into my dishwasher's soap tray.
