a stickler for shiny pans, a stainless steel fan

So, once you buy your stainless steel cookware it's an instant love affair.  "There's a new chef in town", you beam.  Cooking is a joy, clean up is pretty easy.  You've read articles on the best techniques for cooking with stainless.  In fact, you're feeling pretty full of yourself.

But you soon learn that stainless doesn't mean "no stains", it means "less stains".  Most of us learn this kind of quickly.  Especially during your early days cooking with stainless, it's probable that you might have cooked at too high a temperature.  After washing and drying your pot or pan you notice the inside...

You've probably walked right by Bar Keeper's Friend at the grocery store and never gave it a second thought. Who ever heard of that? Why not just use the other (more famous) scouring powder?

Because Bar Keeper's Friend kicks dirt's butt. I have used it to remove the "scratches" on the bottom of a porcelain sink, the remnants of a de-glazed wine sauce from a stainless steel frying pan, the nasty rust ring around the toilet we inherited when we moved into our apartment (even CLR wouldn't get it off!), and ... well, just about anything I couldn't get off using regular soap and water.

I dont know how...

a homeowner, into trying new things

When we bought our house the kitchen had white porcelain sinks. They look nice when they are clean, but not very nice once they get stained. I tried everything to get the stains out of those sinks, Comet, SOS pads, Ajax, but nothing would get the sinks looking good.

Then one day I saw a commercial for Barkeepers Friend on the weather channel.  I was skeptical since nothing else had worked, but I decided to give it a try.  Well I worked wonders on my sinks, they looked almost new from the first try.  It works great on pots and pans, the counters and appliances too.

I was so impressed that...

I wish I'd known about this cleanser years ago. Apparently it's older than dirt. But it's a super cleaner. Use it on everything from mirrors to chrome. It's a very mild abrasive, fine powder cleaner.  I use it on my mirrors, sinks, ceramic cooktop stove, chrome faucet fixtures, fiberglass shower stall, copper, & brass. Clean all those little glass nick knacks & they'll sparkle like new. If your hubby discovers it's good for chrome, you'll find it in the garage where he's been polishing his chrome wheels & whitewalls,  Better buy 2 cans.

There's no strong odor either.

To use it, just sprinkle a...

My grandmother was the first in our family to get a ceremic cooktop stove. She had, had one for years and we always remembered hearing of bar Keepers Friend. Well when we got our ceremic top stove it came with a cleaner. This cleanier was only available at Home Depot and the like so we found some Bar Keeper's Friend ( at that time it was hard to find but it is getting easier) If you have ever had a pan boil up over your ceremic stove top you know what a mess it can leave. Bar Keepers' Friend will be YOUR new best Friend if you have this type of stove but I would think would work great on... review »

I tried it on my emeril non-stick pans because of burnt on grease and it didn't help. It's great on my sink and stainless steel though. You don't have to scrub too hard to get it to work properly which is awesome. Smell is a little weird at first. Be careful to make sure you wash everything out...otherwise you can be poisoned by it...I guess that's why it works so well. :o)

When I purchased a new stainless skillet this was recommended for being great at removing cooked on oils and food.  I then (after soaking in a little water and cleaner) discovered it also removed rust stains from my Steak knives I thought were ruined.  They are now good as new!  Wonderful product!
