Sealy Two Inch Memory Foam Topper
By now, most people know the many attributes of memory foam bedding. Memory foam was originally designed for NASA, is temperature-sensitive to reduce pressure points, and is hypoallergenic, antimicrobial, and dust mite resistant. The Sealy 2-inch topper is made of 3-pound, high-density Visco-Elastic foam that never needs turning. This set also includes two contour pillows made from the same foam material. The toppers are bargain priced at just $69.99 ($239.99 MSRP) no matter which size you order: twin, full, queen, California king, or king size.
After reading some reviews on foam toppers, I ordered the California King for my queen-sized bed. Several customers noted that the queen topper didn't completely cover the entire queen mattress. Since the California King is 12 inches wider and 3 inches longer; I simply cut off the excess and rounded the corners with a pair of kitchen shears, and now the topper fits my bed perfectly. I covered the foam with a mattress pad to keep it secure, and then made up the bed as usual.
Does Two Inches of Memory Foam Really Make a Difference?
I have to say, my first night sleeping on the topper was an eye opener. Literally. I kept waking up and tossing back and forth because I couldn't get comfortable. I felt like I was sleeping on a giant sponge and I didn't particularly like the sinking feeling of being absorbed into the bed. However, after two weeks of sleeping on the memory foam I couldn't be happier. I either got used to the feel, or the foam loosened up enough to make it comfortable for me. I don't wake up with the assorted aches and pains that I had before buying the topper, nor do I toss and turn at night like I used to.
The contour pillow was a nice bonus with the product, but it's not something I'll use. I've got a great pair of pillows that I've already broken in. I'll probably Freecycle the pillows so that someone who really wants them can get some use out of them.
Overall, my view of the Sealy 2-inch Memory Foam Topper and Contour Pillows is that this is the best $69 I've ever spent on bedding. I realize that bedding is a very personal decision and that individual preferences vary greatly. Therefore, this foam topper may be too soft and thin for some people, and too thick and spongy for others. But for me and my aching back, it turned out to be just right.
