Sephora Flashy Liner in Flashy Mauve —

I love unusual colors.  I also love unusual colors that are versatile and look good on me!  One of the most unique eyeliners to come into the market in the last year is from SEPHORA.  It is called FLASHY LINER in the color FLASHY MAUVE.

WHAT IS FLASHY MAUVE LIKE?

FLASHY MAUVE (03) eyeliner is one of the new SEPHORA FLASHY LINERS that has come out this past year.  Unlike most liners, the appearance of FLASHY MAUVE is almost ethereal in appearance.  It is a very icy blue violet that is translucent but glowy.

The texture of this liner is like butter.  In all cases of eye makeup, different pigments used to color products does tend to affect the overall texture of the product- so you can have a green you love, but the pink might be too dry, etc- even though the colors are both from the same exact product line.

In this case, however, FLASHY MAUVE is just as lucious as the other FLASHY LINERS from SEPHORA.

When used on the waterline, the color is translucent but iridescent. It truly looks lovely- and stays put all day.

The pencil is sharpened in a regular liner sharpener (I use MAC, but Sephora has a nice one for a reasonable price too), even though it is black composite and not wood.  There is also a black cap that MUST be in place securely, or the pencil will dry out.

HOW TO USE FLASHY MAUVE

FLASHY MAUVE liner is one of the most lucious to put on.  I use it on my waterline mostly when I am using a violet, purple, and or blue combination of eyeshadow.  I also will use it if I can not use eye makeup that day, but just want a little pop of color.  I will put FLASHY MAUVE on the waterline, and then put a darker purple, or charcoal gray on the waterline at the inner and outer corners of the eye to tone down the bright iridescent violet.

If you use it on the waterline, you can just pull the lower lid slightly to make it taut, and gently swipe FLASHY MAUVE across the waterline.  It will give translucent iridescent coverage and stay put all day long.  It comes out easily at night if you use a gently cleanser.

Another way that I love to use FLASHY MAUVE is to use it as an eyeshadow.  I will draw on a thick liner and quickly smear it and smudge it up onto the lid until it fades.  Then I do the same under the eye.  You have to work quickly with this, because it will set very fast.  But it is very worth it.

Another favorite way that I love to use FLASHY MAUVE is as a lip liner with FUN N SEXY lipstick, or other iridescent violet and blue lipsticks.  It really adds a lovely punch to the lipstick and it stays put quite well.  Since it is not ON the lips but only toward the outer edges, it works out well.

FINAL COMMENTS

I am including a swatch of FLASHY MAUVE along with the other FLASHY LINERS which I plan to do reviews of in the near future.  I also plan to include photos of my using FLASHY MAUVE over time as I am able to take them, and will update my review to accomodate these.

You can get FLASHY MAUVE at SEPHORA stores, or at

www.sephora.com

The $8 price is a bargain, considering that these liners out-perform all other lines of eyeliner that I have ever tried- and that includes Urban Decay, and Makeup Forever.

If that's what you're wearing on your lips it looks great. But why would they call something that appears to be purple a mauve? hmmm...Gigi (oh yeah, I'm very inquisitive)
