Full View: One day, I noticed that one of my teeth was really sensitive. The gum had receded some and, every time I ate or drank something hot or cold. I jumped and screamed in pain. My dentist said I didn't have a cavity there, it was my nerve exposed. He said there was nothing he could do but I should get Sensodyne Toothpaste and use it daily. I chose the Extra Whitening formula because I drink plenty of iced tea and diet cola and I know that stains my teeth.

Sensodyne Extra Whitening Toothpaste - Hype or Help for Sensitive Teeth?

The toothpaste tastes fine. It is minty fresh and leaves my breath clean. After about 10 days of twice daily use, I noticed that my sensitive tooth was not as sensitive. Soon, I didn't notice my sensitive tooth at all. This stuff works! As for whitening, my teeth need more than just toothpaste to remove the stains that I get from the iced tea and other colored drinks but this does a decent job of polishing my teeth and removing surface stains. My main concern was the sensitivity and, with Potassium Nitrate to help the sensitivity, my touchy tooth no longer bothers me. I brush my teeth two to four times a day. Twice, I use this toothpaste. The other time or times, I use a variety of whitening toothpastes. With regular use, my sensitive tooth is no longer sensitive. It is, however, if I stop using the toothpaste for a few days. I have tried other toothpastes for sensitive teeth and none worked as well. This is the best I have used for zapping the pain of sensitive teeth.

My Viewpoint

Sensodyne Extra Whitening Toothpaste works for me! It costlier than regular toothpaste but, if you ever experienced the pain of a sensitive tooth after eating a spoonful or ice cream, you will know it is well worth the cost. My tooth isn't sensitive anymore and I can eat and drink anything without jumping around in pain. If I stop, though, the pain returns. I am hooked. 5 stars. The whitening is average but the pain relief if way above average.
