My wife and I, before we married, got one of these beds each, thinking they were supposed to be the best thing since sliced bread. She got the cheapest one, I got the model that was a couple steps up, (supposedly).
When we got them, we figured it would just take a while and we'd get used to them and get ourselves "dialed in" on which number we should each use.
A little over a year later, our backs hurt more than ever, and we are going to get new a new bed. We actually sleep on our la-z-boy couches sometimes to make our backs feel better.

My husband and I have had several mattresses, and this is the absolute, most comfortable one we've slept on. It's not too hard or too soft, and it feels like you are sleeping on air. We have a king size, and it seems larger than others...we don't feel like we are sleeping right on top of one another. There is a top portion over the regular mattress that is soft and plump, while the mattress is firm, without being too hard. Select Comfort Sleep Number Bed 5000
Overalll the select comfort bed is wonderful. I like being able to adjust
the firmness according to my daily needs, sometimes soft other times firm.
I also love the fact that my spouse can do the same as we never agree
on the firmness!
