Select Comfort Air Bed Review Summary
The Select Comfort Air Mattress is a great option, say people who are interested in comfort. What is it they like? Perhaps it’s the fact that with two air chambers that can be inflated or deflated to adjust the firmness of the mattress. Our reviewers report that the Select Comfort eases back pain and is easy to assemble (it comes in three pieces). Drawbacks include the fact that the Select Comfort is not cheap. Some reviewers have complained that if the bed is not level, it may cause one sleeping partner to roll down to the other. Bottom line, the Select Comfort Mattress is not without it’s detractors, but overall Viewpoints customers are satisfied.
Tip: Select Comfort mattresses manufactured before 2005 were not treated to prevent mold, so be sure to check the air chambers.

Favorable Review
A little over a year ago, after considerable shopping around, we upgraded from our queen-sized water-bed to a Select Comfort mattress. It fit nicely within our existing frame and we both find it extremely comfortable. We'd have liked to try the Temporpedic, but there's no "test driving" one of…

Critical Review
We bought this bed for the reason many people buy it--one spouse likes a firm mattress (me) and the other likes a soft mattress (my wife). But if you expect the mattress to resolve the problem--don't get your hopes up. Although my wife finds it to be comfortable, and sleeps well, I…

After years of watching the infomercials, reading through hundreds of review, asking person after person, and testing mattress after mattress (in store and especially comparing with the memory foam beds), my husband and I decided to purchase the King Size Select Comfort Air Mattress 5000. Now, 3 years later, it is definitely the best investment we have ever made. I wish we had the bed during my 5 pregnancies. I'm positive it would have helped tremendously. My husband has also had sinus surgery, several knee surgeries, back surgery, and several…

budget conscious
The Sleep Number Bed is simply the best mattress to invest in. My husband and I are are in our mid-40's and both of us were waking up with aches and pains from sleeping on our inner spring mattress. We looked at many mattress ads and even went to sleep test some of them. When the sales person put us on the sleep number bed and found our "number"...we could not believe how comfortable it was. — We have had our Select Comfort bed for 2 years now and wonder why we did not get one a long time ago!! The aches and pains are few and far between now and if I do wake up…

The bed is delivered to you in many boxes, but the intsructions are easy to follow. I have severe arthritis and a bad back and have had trouble sleeping for many years, due to the pressure from a coil spring mattress. But with this mattress it is like sleeping on a cloud. You can readjust the air to fit the needs of either person so that it accommadates your needs. This is a wonderful mattress and well worth the…

interested in comfort, married, expecting good, fair service, value conscious
We bought the select comfort several years after trying it out in a mall store. It's a lot of money to spend and we wanted to be sure it would be a good investment. After my husband had surgery it was time to get it. We were told delivery would be 2 weeks, but it arrived in 4 days. It came in 3 boxes that we had to put together. My 'not really a handyman' husband, being only 3 weeks out of major abdominal surgery thought he could put it together...and he did. He is still bragging about the great directions making it simple to do. It fit right on top…

practical, too busy to make beds, looking for durability, budget conscious, interested in comfort, I believe in honesty, have back problems, picking up after pets
I have had the King size 3000 model (least expensive) for 6 months and it is the best money I have ever spent. I have had absolutely no problems with leakage. — I have Fibromyalgia as well as an old back injury, and it took this bed to finally get a good nights sleep and to awaken without pain. Also, for the first time in 13 years of marriage, I don't have to worry about waking my husband when I come to bed, or him kicking me during the night due to his restless legs. — It came in several boxes, none of which were extremely heavy, and was very easy to put together…

We purchased a sleep number bed by Select Comfort because I have arthritis and fibromyalgia and was pregnant and desperately needed some good sleep! At first it was difficult to find just the right number for my comfort, but with time I have been able to get this bed just right for where I am at at any given time. With my health problems, what feels good or what hurts one day, isn't the same as what feels good or hurts the next. That is the beauty of this bed. I am on my second pregnancy in this bed and I thank God that I have a sleep number to adjust to my changing…

interested in comfort, not very handy
I had a Serta Matress for years. I always slept just fine on it until I got ran over by a car and had a vertebrae in my back fractured and had several bulging and herniated disk. I basically had to sleep sitting up every night. Not very restful to say the least. I decided that I had to do something so that I could get a better night sleep. I had heard a lot about the Select Comfort Sleep Number bed. Nothing came close to what I had experienced when I walked into their store and was shown how to adjust the bed to my comfort level. I could actually lay…

practical, interested in comfort, a green thumb, have allot of pain issues
I have to say after trying several types of mattresses we are hooked, line and sinker on the select comfort air mattress. I have several pain issues that infringe on my sleep time and with this mattress, i have very few pain issues to interrupt my sleep. Different areas of my body hurt at different times of the day or it varies by the day, so I needed a mattress that would adjust with my pain issues. If I awake with a stiff back, then I know when I hop into bed that evening, I need to make the mattress a little firmer. Some night's I have it so very soft as to feel…

too busy to make beds
I have always had trouble getting to sleep and dreaded going to bed. With this bed I not only fall to sleep quickly but sleep through the entire night. We bought our bed on a close out and had to assemble the bed. It came in some boxes an we put it together. I was impressed by the design and the workmanship of the product. Everything fit perfectly together. The bed is well engineered, yet at the same time light weigh. One assembled it is light enough to move around after it was put together. — The hardest part is finding the perfect…

I bought this bed over two years ago because it seemed to perfect solution for my boyfriend and I. He likes a very firm mattress and I prefer something more soft. Well unfortunately this bed was anything BUT a solution. For the first month (which happens to be the money back guarentee time period) it was great. Now when he has his side very firm and I have mine softer, it create a "slope" and he tends to roll toward me and then there is now a sag in the center as well. Basically there are two air chambers and you are suppose to be able to put your side at whatever setting you would like.…

OK, the next to the highest grade king adjustable Select Comfort Air Mattress is better than the leaky water bed that it replaced, but all the hype of back pain relief for me, is just that ... hype. Inflating it to support my bum makes it too firm for the rest of me. Deflating it to gain upper-body comfort makes it sag too much in the middle. — Sadly, I would have sent it back had it not been for my wife who did not want the same hassle sending this bed back as we did with one of those "memory foam" mattresses. She said it was comfortable enough. …

My husband and I were shopping at a local mall, talking about how we needed to replace our old mattress. One of the stores was having a sale on the air mattress top mattresses so we decided to try them out. We laid on it and it was sooo comfortable, or so we thought!!!. We bought the mattress and had it delivered to our home. We played around with how much air to make us comfortable. The first night was not bad. However each night after that we would awaken during the night to find out that the mattress had lost air and so had to get up to adjust it. At the same time each morning…

While this product is an improvement versus the waterbed I owned previously, it still leavess much to be desired. The biggest issue is when you have two people lie in the bed and finally get it adjusted so that both sides are comfortable, as soon as one person gets up or moves their body weight across the center line the dynamics of the bed change. This is most noticable when one of the people is 150 lbs and the other is 250 lbs. The amount of air required to compensate for the body mass is different. Heaven forbid both people lying on the same side of the mattress, or the two people…
