Most HelpfulWe bought this bed for the reason many people buy it--one spouse likes a firm mattress (me) and the other likes a soft mattress (my wife). But if you expect the mattress to resolve the problem--don't get your hopes up. Although my wife finds it to be comfortable, and sleeps well, I find it is the...
review »After years of watching the infomercials, reading through hundreds of review, asking person after person, and testing mattress after mattress (in store and especially comparing with the memory foam beds), my husband and I decided to purchase the King Size Select Comfort Air Mattress 5000. Now, 3 years later, it is definitely the best investment we have ever made. I wish we had the bed during my 5 pregnancies. I'm positive it would have helped tremendously. My husband has also had sinus surgery, several knee surgeries, back surgery, and several other minor back things like cortisone...
review »The bed is comfortable however the problem comes in if you have duel air chambers. This means two people can adjust both sides of the bed to their own comfort. Problem is if one persons side is much higher or lower than the other persons side you tend to roll down into the other persons side. Not good
OK, the next to the highest grade king adjustable Select Comfort Air Mattress is better than the leaky water bed that it replaced, but all the hype of back pain relief for me, is just that ... hype. Inflating it to support my bum makes it too firm for the rest of me. Deflating it to gain upper-body comfort makes it sag too much in the middle.
Sadly, I would have sent it back had it not been for my wife who did not want the same hassle sending this bed back as we did with one of those "memory foam" mattresses. She said it was comfortable enough. Now a couple of years have passed and...
review »We bought the select comfort several years after trying it out in a mall store. It's a lot of money to spend and we wanted to be sure it would be a good investment. After my husband had surgery it was time to get it. We were told delivery would be 2 weeks, but it arrived in 4 days. It came in 3 boxes that we had to put together. My 'not really a handyman' husband, being only 3 weeks out of major abdominal surgery thought he could put it together...and he did. He is still bragging about the great directions making it simple to do. It fit right on top of our box springs helping that...
review »We purchased the select comfort air bed because my husband and I like different firmness for sleeping, we thought this would answer both of our desires. However, I really dislike the bed and my husband is happy with the purchase.
The positives are that each person can set their own firmness level. The motor is fairly quiet. Setup is not difficult and took a minimal amount of time.
The negatives are that I now wake up with a sore shoulder/neck/arm which has never occured before. I sleep on my side and it feels like my shoulder is hitting a hard surface beneath the pillowtop. We even...
review »I have had a Select Comfort King size bed with all the bells and whistles (dual chambers, vibrate massage, adjustable frame, etc) It was great for the first 3-5 months - then it seemed I needed to change the firmness very frequently to be comfortable - that helped for around a year, then after that, I just can't spend allot of time on it.
I had back surgery and have a failed lumbar fusion so support while sleeping is very important. I have a military cot with a 3" memory foam pad on it that I find more comfortable. When I sleep on it, my chiropractor and massage therapist always comment...
