We have owned this mattress for five years now, and since my wife and I like different amounts of support, it is an ideal solution for us. I have some significant arthritis, so some nights I want soft and comfy, and and some nights I want back support. This approach allows changing to accomodate to your needs. My wife is quite constant in her needs and she can have her side just as she wants it.
The one problem with the Select Comfort 5000 is that it has some foam pads in it as well as it's well publicized air. As those foam pads wear out from compression, they have to be replaced. And the bill to do that is unconscionable! It would have cost us six hundred dollars to replace those pads with Select Comfort originals. We solved the problem by buying a closed cell foam topper and "floating" it on the Select Comfort system. Problem solved for $200!
The best way to judge is that whenever we travel, we are both very happy to get home to our Select Comfort "hybrid"!
