The best system from the early 90's

5

The Sega Genesis has all of my best memories from early childhood in it. I will never forget the Christmas me and my older brother received it. It was the edition that also included Sonic Spinball with it. Me, my Dad and my brother spent hours just playing that single game. And that was just the beginning. Sonic the Hedgehog became a huge hit with all of his games. We wasted so many hours of our lives just on that alone. The graphics and sound quality was great. We were definitely on the Sega side of the Nintendo/Sega console war. There are so many other great games on the Genesis as well besides just Sonic. Streets of Rage, Golden Axe, Phantasy Star, and many others were on our list of favorites. I would definitely recommend picking up this great gem from history. Graphics Quality For a 16-bit system, Sega really was able to showcase some amazing graphic designs, especially in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. Game Variety There is a different type of game for all players, and most games age surprisingly well. Controller Comfort The controller is basic and easy to use. Ease of Use Very simple and easy to understand. Durability Our original Sega Genesis still lives today.

Welcome to my childhood

I will always be very biased when it comes to this console. It is my absolute favorite and is how I spent most of my time with my sister outside of elementary school. I still have it today and love it just the same. The games are unrivaled to any new systems, and I'm even a bit disappointed that some of the series did not continue on into the newer systems. This console is so much fun, and you're guaranteed to have a blast [from the past] if you ever get the chance to play one, and I truly hope that you do! Graphics Quality Obviously it's not up to date with the graphics of today, but for the time the graphics were decent, and playing it today is just an altogether cool experience to see the graphics of the past. Game Variety There were/are so many different series of games to play of all different sorts, each one unique in its own ways. (Streets of Rage to Jeopardy and all the way to Battletoads) Controller Comfort Sort of awkward shaped. But a good controller, all the same Ease of Use Definitely straightforward and simple! Durability Well mine's been around since the early 90s and is still workin just fine. (fingers crossed it stays that way)

Best game system by SEGA has a ton of games like Racers, RPGs, Platformers, Shooters, and more. Graphics Quality Graphics are 16 bit but get better when you add the 32X for games like Virtua Racing, and Star Wars Arcade. Game Variety Has lots of games like Sonic, Shinobi, Bat Man, Spider Man, Truxton, Super Monaco GP, Super Hang On, Out Run, Star Wars, Star Trek, Turbo Out Run, Toy Story, Hard Driven', and many others. This system has something for everyone. There is a huge variety of games and many different levels of play for the beginner through pro Controller Comfort The controller is really comfortable and good for any game. I can play this game for hours on end and my hands do not feel tired! Ease of Use The Genesis is really easy to use. It is so simple and family friendly! People of all ages will love this system. Durability This game console is extremely tough and can really take a beating! On numerous occasions, I have actually smashed on my system and remarkably it continues to work!

Old school fun time with the genesis

5

Genesis. Its been a while. You can barely find this system anymore. For the kids who don't know (or the people who are not into video games) let me explain. A company called Sega came along during the early console wars against Nintendo. They wanted to compete so they released a few systems but the one that stuck was of course this one. Graphics Quality Graphics were good during that time period. They vary from game to game (with Flicky being lack luster, a game about a bird gathering chicks from a cat,) to wow (Comic zone with you inside of a comic book and the Sonic variety.) Don't expect Xbox or PS3 or Wii u graphics but they were good (and simple) back then and even to this day. Game Variety You can find any game. RPGs. Fighting. Action. Adventure. Sports. ANY GAME. Genesis had variety and it shows in spades. Also if you know what you are doing you can play Japanese games to explain your library (or other methods....) Controller Comfort The genesis control is so so. Its simple black with a U like shape. Its not wow but you can play for hours and be ok. The buttons used to stick (especially the rapid control fire button.) Ease of Use Genesis is easy. All you have to do is put the cart in (or blow on it,) and bam you have a game. No scratched disks, etc. Also the carts were strong and last a while. The core system is simple to hook up; just a power cord as well as an adapter that you stick in the back (like the cable part.) Durability This depends on what genesis you have. There are two: The original one and the Genesis 2. The Genesis 2 is so so and the parts are cheap; they don't last a long time and they break down really easy. You can tell the difference between the shape as well as the 2. The original genesis had a switch while the 2 had power buttons all over the place and was smaller. You wouldn't know at first glance but oh boy...

Sega Genesis: A Classic

4

Sega Genesis was my very first video game console. Looking back on it, I have a lot of great memories staying up playing Zombies Ate My Neighbors or my favorite, Toe Jam & Earl. My sister and I would play Sonic 2 so much that we knew all the levels by heart. I still have my Sega, although it is very worn and while it still plays, some games (Toe Jam & Earl) have a hard time starting. It is quite amazing how far video games have come from the 32 bit console... 1080p, 3D, and online gaming have changed the way we play and how we experience video games. But I'll always remember the console that got me into video games in the first place, the Sega Genesis.

Genesis, we will miss you.

The Sega Genesis was a truly revolutionary and powerful gaming system. Indeed, it gave gamers the ability to enjoy high speed video games and excellent quality sound for the very first time. The Genesis also made for Sega's direct competition with Nintendo's blockbuster Super Nintendo console and the rivalry flourished, making both companies push one another to do great things. Sega is mostly known for their legendary Sonic series, and for good reason. The Genesis carries this tradition in full, as most of the most memorable releases were Sonic titles. Sonic the Hedgehog became something of a mascot for Sega, with his whirlwind of adventures and unmatched speed made capable only with the help of the genesis. To this day, you'll come across fans who love the Genesis to death and won't let go of their idea of Sonic being the greatest game to ever grace the earth. And you know what? In some sense, they're completely right in saying this. Sonic brought a new flavor to platforming and encouraged other developers to break the mold instead of basking the the safe success of Mario. It's thanks to the Genesis that console competition really took off so well, and we can see the rivalries of the bygone days reflected in the current era to some extent. You've got Nintendo AND the Genesis to blame for that, but the Genesis definitely helped things a lot.

Sega Genesis the first 16 bit system

5

The Sega Genesis System was the first sixteen bit system out the door, beating Nintendo and the release of thier console war winning Super Nintendo, and at the time was great system and still is when I get a chance to play it. The Sega Genesis had all types of classic games that are still or should be relevent in todays game market. Games available for this system included: The Sonic The Hedghog series, Shinobi- still a classic, Strider- fun but a glitchy game, Phantasy Star- A great RPG, and tons of others. The Sega Genesis system also had all kinds of add-ons released during its time: The Sega CD sytem that brought us such classic games Night Trap, Corpse Killer, Tunnel Rat, and Silpheed. The othe add-on release was an epic fail and that was 32-X that boosted systems power, but was sadly the death toll of the system. This system is still a fun.

Great system

The sega genesis is a great console system. It has numerous games on it, some of them of them are extremely popular and are mainstream names. Some of these include Vector Man, Sonic (the entire series), Kid Chameleon, Mortal Kombat (all series), Golden Axe, and Earthworm Jim. There are a lot more than that though that's just on top of my head. The Sega Genesis is a 16 bit system, and although we no longer have 16 bit console systems it was launched at the same time as the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, the SNES by Nintendo so that's understandable. The console system was black, with a little touch of red, and you inserted the game in a round dome near the top middle to the top right area. The controller ports were on the bottom left, near the Sega insignia, making connections very easy and intuitive. The controller was a nice and simple black color, in the shape of a concave. There were buttons on the right and a simple arrow key on the left. It was simple but it was sufficient.

Great system

5

This is one of the first systems I ever purchased. My first one was of course the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). But Sonic on the Sega Genesis Console was the first good game that I had. And because of that, it has a lot of sentimental value to me. This console system got me through a lot during the old days, letting me kill time in a good way instead of being bored and doing nothing around the house. The system comes with controller and one game, Sonic the Hedgehog. The game is very good and quite an interesting concept. Of course, the fun and magic really happens as you add more games to your collection. I had a decent amount, although mine was not an extensive collection by any means. I had Virtua Figther, Vector Man, several different Sonic the Hedgehog games, Kid Chameleon, and several other games that I do not remember. But I do remember the joy and fun I had when it was a rainy day and you had a lot of time to enjoy the Sega Genesis. The graphics it supported were great at the time.
