3 years ago Nov 14th we purchased a 65: Sony Grand Wega HD1080 TV for $5000 at Sears. It was delivered to our home th next morning, in fact they were here 15 minutes sooner than expected. So they got coffee cake & cinnamon coffee. Sears also match the Sony warranty my husband researched. So we have a 5 year warranty. Each October we have the technician come out to make sure the TV is just like brand new. Sony also has us on their records as owners, so going on 3 years they told us the LIGHT BAR was to be replaced on the warranty, at no charge to us. So I phoned Sears in September to get a morning service call which they had one on Oct 4th. 2 weeks wait but I took it, no 8-5PM.
The previous 2 years the reps are there at 8AM to check the TV & tell me it is great. They wipe it down from a spray they use but it is not available for me to get. Looks brand new again. Color is so great, the HD is marvelous.
So Oct 4th I am waiting & it is 11:30AM when my phone rings. It is Sears Technician telling me he will be 3 hours late. I told him I leave at 12:30 & you are to be here by noon arranged in mid September. He tells me to call the store & arrange a new appointment. I called & got the Manager who was not too pleased either. He called the Technicians boss who got his Sony guy to our house in 20 minutes. I told the guy that this jerk tells me my projection TV has no light bar. It is not a projection at $5K, He doesn't know what a Grand Wega is? He is very apologetic. Then the jerk shows & he has the light bar which he installs upside down. Then they both leave turning the set off.
My husband gets home, get dinner & sits at the TV. He notices it is BLUE in the left lower side of the HD screen. He tries non HD channels & same thing. The longer it is on the more space the blue flows into. So he calls Sears, Technical is closed call tomorrow. So I phone & a tech will be out next week. I asked for the Store Manger who is on vacation. Sears phones the night before an appointment to confirm the time.
So the day of the appointment, no show. I call the store & I am told I was moved to another date due to high appointment ratio. So why didn't you phone me to tell us. I was called confirming the sppointment. So they will come tomorrow morning. So I wait & at noon I call the store, get passed around the store, so I called Corporate to complain. I get a phonecall apologizing for the Rep trashing our TV & they will replace it tomorrow. Tomorrow we both wait & no show. So we show at the Store, to the salesman. He gets on the phone about the replacement & is told there isn't one. We can rent a TV while they fix ours & Sears will pay for it. I don't believe them now. So we will return the set that your tech has bought.
We get a phonecall from Sony that they are sending their man out to fix the set which needs a $1500 lower box installed since the Tech from Sears put the light Bar in upside down. He blew out the controls. 8AM their man is here, TV repaired like new in 3 hours. He will do the remaining 2 years on the warranty also. We have that in writing. NO MORE SEARS!
