I don't understand it.  I tried out the Vasser Ultra Plush Mattress by Sealy in the showroom.  I laid on it, sat up in it, moved from side to side, front to back, bounced up and down, and thoroughly tested it out.  It felt wonderful then.  Comfy and plush, yet firm and supportive.  My hubby agreed, we got a good deal, and looked forward to delivery day.  I was smitten by our purchase.  Unfortunately, the first day that the mattress was in my home was the day that my infatuation ended and reality set in.

Sealy Posturepedic

As part of the ComfortSealy Posturepedic Preferred Collection, the Vasser Ultra Plush mattress has a lot to recommend it highly, and the salesman went over every detail. The mattress has a 3-layer "Pressure Relief Inlay with SealyFoam," "UniCased" edge design for stability, 736 "PostureTech" innersprings, and "Shock Abzzorber" bed springs.  Sounds impressive, right?  It certainly did to me.  Sealy is a well-known, well-trusted name in bedding and I was impressed with the mechanics and structure of the product.

My Experience with the Vasser Ultra Plush Mattress

Instead of experiencing the "Toss and Turn Free Zone" that is claimed in Sealy marketing materials, my first night on the mattress became the "Toss, Turn, and Wake-Up-in-Pain-Repeatedly Zone."  I woke up the next morning with aching muscles, a stiff back, and cramps in my calves.  I do live with multiple sclerosis, so I wasn't completely surprised that my body had difficulty adjusting to a new mattress.  My hubby didn't sleep as poorly as I did, but he agreed that the mattress seemed significantly harder and inflexible in our home than it had in the store.

We reasoned that maybe the mattress needed a "breaking in" period, like you sometimes have to do with new shoes.  Perhaps all of the customers who had tried out the mattress in the store display had softened it up; so that by the time we'd tried it out it was perfect.  Only time would tell.

A week later, and the Sealy Posturepedic Vasser Ultra Plush Mattress has loosened up considerably.  My body has adjusted to the feel of the mattress and I am beginning to feel less sore and achy.  I'm a little disappointed that it still doesn't feel as wonderful as it did in the showroom.  I will recommend it if you prefer firm support to plush comfort.  As for me, I'm still waiting for the day when I will wake up on this mattress with an "Ahhhhhh" rather than an "Ouch!"

Glad I could help. Please let me know what happens. It would make a good review.

Needless to say this mattress purchase was a learning experience unlike our last set, which just worked when we got it home. We bought the mattress at The Bedding Experts, which touts 100% customer satiifaction, but after the sales was done told me that they would replace the mattress for $99.00 even if we took the showroom model! Beware...

That's a wonderful idea. I think I will do just that! :)

Wow - ouch! Sounds like misrepresentation from the salesperson and the company. It's supposed to be nice and comfy right away or how can they truly have a comfort zone. I think you should email the Sealy company and tell them what happened. You gave them your money and trust and got aches and pains. Write just what you wrote in the review. Perhaps they can reimburse you or give you a different kind of mattress. Good luck. Many blessings.
