Sealy Posturepedic True Form Memory Mattress Review

The Bottom Line:  Run don't walk to buy a Sealy True Form mattress. 20 years of luxury in sleeping & total rest.

After a drunk driver t-boning me on Xmas Even 1995 on the rear street to a large shopping mall after she has a few tall ones. Months of traction, bad headaches and doors to sleep on, is what I called the hospital bed that was hard as a door.

Husband bought a Sealy Posturepedic pillow top, firm but comfy. That lasted 15 years and 20 pillows later. Neck pain, back pain, muscle relaxers that you cannot drive with, Advil by the dozens. This past 6 months has been the worst, feeling like I broke it again.

So we decide it is time for a new bed. Great grandma at Sears with their 40% off on Sealy's. Some felt like a cloud to lay on but add a turn and forget sleeping on it. So we hit a few mattress stores stating they make theirs right in the warehouse. So we tried bed after bed by the dozens. Some actually hurt my knees to crawl into they were that hard. Then they had a number bed that makes a crazy loud noise when you adjust it. No way in our bedroom.

Then we see an ad for a new bed store down the street from our home. Mattress Warehouse is the name & they have the Tempur-Pedic that NASA designed to relieve pain on liftoff. $3000 for a queen & we wanted a king. The great Manager named Ron Begley, walks us over to a Sealy True Form mattress, which is the only manufacturer to try to outdo Tempur-Pedic's creation for half the price. So we tried 3 Tempur-Pedics from very soft to very firm (like a sidewalk). The one that I like, felt like laying back in the very warm sea at Labadee, Haiti. But the total price with tax, the set was close to $5,000.

So over to the Sealy which has 2 models. Visco is the trademark of the Tempur-Pedic-ish bed that Sealy designed. They called it TRUE FORM. One very firm 9" & the other is just heavenly at 11". The manager then gets me a pillow that is tiny beads of the Visco and I could feel my entire back from heels to my head just straighten out. No pain, no headache without Advil or 1600 mg Motrin. This was heaven! It was $1200.00! $179 each for the double box springs, as I called it, but was corrected to it being called a FORM. It comes in a zipper case that we wash every 6 months. It has a $80 bed sack that is waterproof, mite proof, and a guarantee of 20 years with it against any damage to the bed. The bed has its own 20 years warrantee against anything going wrong with comfort & my spine. It will be replaced with a new bed. Spells it out in writing in the guarantee. Manager threw in 2 beaded pillows so even husband gets to "float" with me as we sleep in Labadee, Haiti every night. Sure is cheaper than a RCCL cruise every year to go back there.

So I will update as we sleep away, which is one hard to get out of, to go to work. To sit in a chair at an office & not lay in our "floating at sea" bed is just horrible. So maybe tomorrow we will retire!

I strongly urge everyone to seek this mattress out. Lay on it for hours if you want, no rush by store personnel or goto another one that is trustful as Mattress Warehouse was. You will thank me & many others here who have told you about them. 

The next night, we were sleeping & we were warned that our bodies have been fooled into being comfortable on a spring mattress with foam & padding. But now we are truly in the best mattress with total support for our bodies, spinal column & veins. No more foot falling asleep or arm falling asleep on this True Form Mattress.

11/9/07: Today the delivery men stopped back to make sure all was great with the bed. I told them I don't want to get out. It is SO perfect for my spine, no headaches, back aches, neck aches are all gone. In a month no pharmaceuticals have been used. Even got a call from my doc asking how I am. I told her about the bed, which she is going to get one at the same store. Advil is enough with 2 pills at the most, for nights with a bad storm like tonight, but I am doing terrific!!!

Even got fleece sheets for the winter, as we turn the heat off in the bedroom so we are nice & warm with the sheets & the goose down comforter in the duvet. So we are set for the blizzards so we have excuse to stay in bed all day. 

Tonight was not a good night to sleep with windows & door to widow's walk open. We both got into a very warm & feels like its melting bed that STUNK! Very bad smell that was making both of us wanting to barf. So husband hit the OUST to spray it to kill the odor. A strong south wind blew into the room which made the 65 degree evening seem cooler & we went to sleep.

11/10/07: we called Mattress Warehouse to ask about the odor & the gal answering tells us that it is the oils in the mattress & pillows that had not had time to to expel themselves uncovered by the sheets & Protect-A-Bed. It was to be nude for 12 hours but the delivery men nor the Manager who sold us the bed told us about this. She told us to mix baking soda with baby powers & spread it atop the mattress with its cover on it & let sit for 12 hours. Then dress the bed. Same with the pillow, out of its case, spread the mixture & let it sit for 12 hours before dressing it.

So we went to Lowe's to see what they had for it. Zorbex, a tiny bottle with sprayer atop it. $2 a bottle & it is advertised as a odor remover safe for pets & people. No smell whatsoever. Manger there told us to use it as his gift & told me to let him know our response. It is a Cleveland company making it & they gave him samples to give out to folks to spread the word. So we came home, took the bedding off & washed them, as I was spraying the entire mattress with sides & then unzipped the pillows in their cases to spray them on both sides. Thus the bottle is empty. Door & windows are open to dry everything & will dress the bed before the ballgame at 8PM. Hoping to sleep in a nice smelling clean bed.

11/11/07: SUCCESS! Odor gone, yeah Zorbex!!! Got 10 hours last night with the rain all night & morning. Cannot get over how great I feel when I wake up & walk around.  Like the accident has never happened.  Even my doctor states that my spine is straight, no more swelling at the C6 & C7.  She is buying the bed that night.
