The Bottom Line: It is well worth $10 more than a Shark steam bottle. It has earned its high marking with me in just one day's worth of tryout from car to house.
I just returned a Sharp Steam back to Bed Bath & Beyond that my husband bought me for $40 with the 20% off coupon. What a pain this was to set up, fill the 1/2 cup of water into it & wait 2 minutes until the blue light, that means it is ready to steam, to light up. Then 10 seconds of steam & a 30 second wait to reheat. So back it went! I also wrote a review on it for here too.
I exchanged it for the Scunci that was $8.64 more getting the same 20% off coupon would have given me. This has a carrying bag, 4 round brushes, 2 steel tip brushes, 4 cloths, filler cup & funnel, extension hose that is 2 feet long & stretches to 5'. A window squeegee for cleaning my new double pane oriel design vinyl windows just installed. Then an added feature is a floor attachment that also cleans mattresses to remove bed bugs & mites, draperies, carpets to clean out fleas, ants, and other unwanted, You can even clean tires on a car, which I had to run the test of & after putting the funnel in the filler area & added a cup full of water from our fridge with the water cleaner. You have a large screw on cap that means business keeping you safe from burns. In 2 minutes the red light went out & I pushed the button & the steam screamed out melting the tar off the side of my car, the hubcaps are silver again. The whitewalls are white again too without the $10 a bottle cleaner they sell.
Then into the house to do my oven, which I hate to use the self cleaning feature that takes 6 hours to open the door again. So I pulled the racks out, aimed the metal brush to the mess spilled into from cheese & sauce from a pizza on the rack, to a lasagna spillover. In 15 minutes it was like new, a paper towel to take up the black greasy stuff into the trashcan. Then I steamed the counter tops, the microwave in & out, then the oven with glass top cooking, the refrigerator even the wood doors of my 66 year old home. 1000 watts of pressure surely does clean away & disinfect the whole kitchen.
Then I did the bird cage of my 19 year old Congo African Grey & that looks brand new. Now he is doing the steam sounds too..... I ran the nozzle across my sofa, lounger, and through the drapes & watched a few spiders hit the floor that I didn't know where hiding in my crown molding.
Then to the bathroom where this really shines! The toilet with it's attachments that aim to the rim to clean, the squeegee on the glass shower doors that remove scum, the mirror also. Even the tile & grout look like they were just installed! Then the drain that the tub uses now to overflow, black stuff came out from the steam so I kept heating it up til it stopped. What a great clean smell as I even used the squeegee to do the floor.
Tonight I will figure out the floor cleaning attachments & holder for the unit to hang from my shoulder & tomorrow we will do floors both wood & linoleum.
I highly recommend that you buy this unit, as it is really the best! Just cleaning out an oven instead of that hideous smelling Easy Off.......... No more ammonia, bleach and other smells that irritate contact lenses & sinuses. I am pitching stuff in the cabinet that I will never use again & giving it to neighbors.
So everything is in the zipper bag aka carrying case as I call it. I have a new item to try, kill ants along the house & basement walls without that toxic bug killer spray.
So now I don't worry about killing my parrot with chemicals.
It has paid for itself in one day! This is a winner in my book!!!
ALSO - a FYI for you buying it. DO NOT UNSCREW THE REFILL CAP UNTIL IT COOLS OFF (3 minutes), it will blow right off the unit breaking a glass. I did the dumb!
Today was 74 degrees, so I opened my 3 year old vinyl windows and used the squeegee & steam to clean them spot free! 14 windows in under an hour, a new world's record........... then I had some steam left so I did the SUV windows also!
I also found a totally new use - ANT KILLER! Our house on our patio had thousands of ants piled up on each other within an hour of when we left to do grocery shopping. No food out there, just a male cat that has to make his territory which I hate. We used 2 cans of ant & roach spray but within hours they were all back. So I get the Scunci & the steam cooked them! I did every crack in the pavement to make sure any in there were escargot.... ALL GONE!
Saw this on TV so I did it: Cleaning brass in our 69 year old home with all the original chandelier & foyer lamp. The brass is dark & dirty looking, the price of brass cleaner & a ladder to get up to the foyer lamp & the smell of the stuff to clean it with. I decided to fire up the Scunci & spray away with newspaper all over the carpet t catch the dark wet stuff. Boy did it ever fall off. Will need another 4 treatments to bring the super shine back without chemicals - WOW! Then JEWELRY - I have a 14 kt gold necklace, 2 kt diamond tennis bracelet that both needed a cleaning but didn't want to drive in the storms to the jeweler so I fired up the steamer to see if the infomercial speaks the truth. IT DOES! Place the jewelry on a paper towel (doubled) and steam away & watch the black go on the paper towel & how beautiful the diamonds fluted gold looks. So then I got out a silver & jade bracelet we bought on a Mexican cruise last Xmas. It was looking pretty bad in the jewelery box so Scunci attacks that & the major blackness all over the paper towel & the bracelet that looks brand new.
Holiday coming, so get the silverware out, and guess what? Yep, the Scunci to the attack on the silverware to make them look brand new not 55 years old.
So I just keep finding more to clean & tell you what works & this is a steal at $50.
