Scrubbing Bubbles Automatic Shower Cleaner —

As I BzzAgent, I recently received the SC Johnson Scrubbing Bubbles Automatic Shower Cleaning System, with two refills of the cleaning solution for free to try out and provide friends and family with coupons for their purchase of this product.  The retail cost for a start kit is approximately $25.00 (includes cleaner, two refills and 4 AA batteries) and shower cleaning refills are approximately $4.00 so I was thrilled to try this product out.  Since we have two showers in the house and they get a lot of action, anything that cuts back on my housekeeping duties is also a plus.

What is Scrubbing Bubbles Automatic Shower Cleaning System?

Scrubbing Bubbles Automatic Shower Cleaning System is an shower cleaning system that hangs in your shower stall from a hook and with the push of a button cleaning solution is released into the shower to help you keep it clean.  You have 15 seconds after you push the button to "get out of the way" of this auto-maid before the cleaning solution is released. it is suggested to be used every day and claims to clean the shower and prevent the build up of mold, mildew and prevent soap scum build up.

Features of the Scrubbing Bubbles Automatic Shower Cleaning System

  • safe for use on most showers and tubs (not to be used on brass fixtures, natural marble or finished wood)
  • one touch cleaning -- no spraying, prep or scrubbing by hand
  • begins cleaning immediately-during first use
  • dual sprayer: one for overall cleaning, one angled for back corners and edges
  • 360 degree spray zone
  • 15 second delay before spray for safety
  • no need to remove your products from the shower
  • no hard to rinse residue left behind
  • clear cleaner

My Viewpoint:I carefully read all the instructions, put it together and cleaned the shower top to bottom, then installed my Scrubbing Bubbles Automatic Shower Cleaning system. The fact that batteries were going to be in my shower stall had me a little concerned as well as where I was going to hang it, since the one bathroom is a shower stall and the other is a regular tub with shower, but it hangs easily from the shower head. I like that there is a warning "beep" sounds to remind you that the button has been pushed and you need to make sure the shower door or curtain is firmly closed. It does work best if you clean your shower first, I felt like in the one bathroom that I was just playing catch up, while in the other bathroom starting with a clean shower it kept my shower walls and door clean for about 2 weeks, before I felt the need to do my very own cleaning again, of course, it probably could have gone longer.  There are a few corners that I feel aren't reached fully, and there is evidence to prove it. Overall though, it saves me a few hours each week cleaning the shower (which I can use for something else) but it is not the personal maid service I was hoping for. It does work better in a shower stall than it does in a tub with shower set up, has a great clean scent and saves me some time and effort. I will most definitely purchase more refills.

In response to AWESOMEMOM88's comment from Jun 9, 2008 at 3:29PM:

Actually, since I cleaned it down it seems to keep it down very well throughout the shower stall. The only place I have any build up and it's just the normal spotting is on the shower stall door. Even though the rotation cleans it too, it just isn't that see through clean that I would like. I even only use it every other day, and that is after probably 4 or 5 shower uses between me and the girls (everyone likes my bathroom best!)

Was wondering how it works on limescale, or do you have to clean that down first and then use this as maintenance?

I have wanting to try this product for awhile, but, it's a little pricey. Thanks for the review!

I was intrigued by the commercials for this, but I've been having good results with Method spray. I don't think any of these sprays really clean the shower totally; just give you a little more time between cleanings. As always, great review. :)
